Clyde Materials Handling has developed a wide array of MAC Equipment air/dust filtration technology which can be applied to tackle any process filtration challenge. For more details contact Richard Sims, Managing Director – Industrial Process Technologies on 01302 321313 or visit www.macequipment.co.uk
MAC Pulse Jet filters can be used in a wide variety of air filtration applications. Depending on the configuration, they can be used as the filter in a dust collection system or as the product receiver in a pneumatic conveying system. Filters can also be equipped with a HEPA high efficiency filter on the clean air exhaust where the air is being reintroduced into the work environment. For lower energy consumption, medium pressure cleaning options are also available.
The MAC2Flo has large square footage of media per cartridge allowing for increased air flow with no increase in pressure drop. Dust-laden air enters the top of the filter, which provides a true downward airflow resulting in increased cleaning efficiency.
The MAC Medium-Pressure Controlled-Cleaning Dust Filter (MCF) is the most efficient and versatile bag filter made. Capacities range to over 250,000 CFM with over a dozen filter media options available. MCF Dust Filter combines superior consistent cleaning performance with major energy savings. Each round filter bag is cleaned only once per cycle to optimize bag life and pressure drop.
A full range of replacement filter bags in a variety of medium, cages and filter cartridges can be supplied.
Components are sold as stand-alone units. Some of these components are also used in Pneumatic Conveying systems to filter process dust from the air stream.

Cyclones
The AAF Cyclone is a dry centrifugal collector for dusts of moderate to coarse particle size (>20µ). The Cyclone will remove up to 99% of dust (by weight) generated by steel grinding and saw dust. When used as a pre-cleaner, the Cyclone reduces the dust load on higher efficiency final collectors for longer service life.
Unlike many dust collectors, the AAF Cyclone contains no moving or replaceable parts and is essentially maintenance free. Air is drawn into the cyclone tangentially and rotates at high velocity, separating heavier dust from the air by centrifugal action. The basic Cyclone features an all welded heavy construction enclosing an internal helix, integral fan and motor assembly. Options include a 55-gallon steel drum, hopper with rack and pinion slide gate, discharge elbow, after-filter, and rotary airlock and receiver.

The High Efficiency Cyclone Separator / Dust Collector
The Filter 1 Cyclotron combines a long tapered cone, a high velocity inlet, and a large internal helix to easily separate from the air stream all moderate size particles, such as saw dust chips and particles from metal grinding. The Cyclotron fans are positioned on the clean air side of the cyclone and are direct drive for low maintenence. In addition, the fans have backward inclined blower wheels for high efficiency and low noise operation. Optional Safety After Filters ensure that even the smallest particles are captured. Standard filter material for the after-filters is 16-ounce seared, felted polyester, designed to hold large dust particles to the outer edges, thus forming a filter cake which heightens filtering efficiency and facilitates easy removal.
Features
- Long, Tapered Cone
- High Velocity Inlet
- Large Internal Helix
- Heavy-Gauge Steel Construction with Industrial Blue Enamel Coating
- Direct Drive Backward Inclined Blower
Options
- Safety After Filters: Bags Fitted for 55-Gallon Drums
- Removable Galvenized Panels for Weather Exposure
- Drop Out Bins Built to Your Specifications
- Rotary Valves
- Spark Resistant Construction
- Radial Blower Wheels
- Sprinkler Heads
- Explosion Vents (Silencers)

Cyclones have been re-designed and improved. Top cyclones can reach 97% settling efficiency as measured in Qatar Plant. Pressure drop of preheater is minimised.
Lower cyclones are equipped with segmented dip tubes which better resist to chemical wear at high temperatures. Efficient tilt valves and splash boxes participate to the stable behaviour of the Fives FCB cyclones preheater.

Cyclone Dust Collectors are the most basic dust collectors
suitable for the collection of not-so-fine dusts.
The advantages are:
- If the process generates sparks, no problems because there is no combustible item such as filters, etc.
- If the dust/ chips are hot, it can handle safely
- There are no consumable items such as filters
- The operating cost is low
- No need to clean filters
- Low maintenance
- Very reliable

Cyclones effectively remove large to moderate-size particles from the air stream for recovery or for disposal. Used alone or in conjunction with another dust collector or after-filter, a cyclone separates coarse contaminants from fine, non-visible particles, and exhausts clean air.

Allied has built thousands of cyclones for various applications. Standard efficiency cyclones are used where baghouse filters are required to cope with emission standards. High efficiency cyclones are used as primary separators and air cleaning devices in many applications. High-pressure cyclones are used as receivers in pneumatic conveying systems. All cyclones have different design requirements and they are custom made for each application

Cyclones use the effects of centrifugal force and gravity to separate particles in suspension in gas. The geometry of cyclones is a determining factor in obtaining high efficiency. Various physical properties such as: temperature, composition and viscosity of the gas, shape, granulometry, relative density of the particles, concentration of dust need to be taken into account when defining their efficiency.
To deal with special problems, we offer special constructions: apparatus for high pressure or high negative pressure, with protection against abrasion, with heating of the body
