World-class open-frame power modules, such as the Austin Lynx and Austin Lynx II, deliver up to 10A of output current with a wide range of bonus elements. These non-isolated power modules are offered in both SIP and SMT packages and feature small footprints that are pin to pin compatible with the Austin Super Lynx and the Austin SuperLynx II modules that deliver up to 16A of output current. Extra features include remote On/Off control, programmable output voltage, over-current and over-temperature protection. The Austin Lynx II series also includes positive logic On/Off control and EZ-SEQUENCE which enables designers to implement cascade, tracking or ratio-metric power sequencing on a board.

Application
The buffer module can be connected directly in parallel to the regulated DC circuit of a DC-power supply or a DC-consumer, in order to buffer load currents during line voltage faults, peak loads or switching operations.
Through this, interferences at controls, caused by short blackouts, can be avoided.
Functional principle
The buffer module stores energy as long as the DC power supply
voltage is available. In case of a power failure the buffer module delivers the energy controlled to the consumer. Because most blackouts are shorter than 0.2 seconds and can be bypassed with the buffer module and the reliability of the complete system is considerably improved.
Extending the retention time
After a power down or a line voltage failure the load current is taken over by the buffer module for a certain time. Thus for example operations can be finalized controlled and process data can be stored, to allow controlled restarts.
