The KBMG-Series are ultracompact 115/230 VAC, full-wave regenerative drives capable of operating 90 and or 180 VDC PM or Shunt motors from 1/50-3.0 HP (.01-2.25kW) in a bidirectional mode. Its 4-quadrant operation provides forward and reverse torque in both speed directions. Through a jumper selection, the motor can be controlled to rapidly “regenerate to stop” or to “coast to stop.” KB’s exclusive Auto Inhibit® circuit provides safe, smooth starting even during rapid cycling of the AC line. The Overspeed Protect Circuit prevents failure of the power bridge in extreme overhauling conditions. Reliability of the KBMG is further enhanced with the use of a high speed current limit circuit and MOV transient protection. LED’s, which can be used for diagnostics, are provided for power on and motor overload. A rugged extruded aluminum heatsink ensures enhanced heat transfer, which provides a higher control rating while maintaining cooler running SCR’s. Power connections to the KBMG are made via quick connect terminals and signal input connections are made via a removable barrier terminal block.

All AMETEK brushless DC motors and blowers require a motor/blower controller to operate. Many of these AMETEK BLDC motors and blowers feature a built in, integrated controller that takes the DC input from a power supply or battery and processes it into phase drive signals that are used to commutate the motor. Motors and blowers that require low voltage DC input (11 to 52 volts) that do not come equipped with an integrated, onboard controller, require one of the external controllers described in this section.

The DECS 50/5 (Digital EC Controller Sensorless) is a new controller for driving brushless DC motors without Hall sensors.
Typical sensorless drives such as pumps and fan applications can now easily be created thanks to modern technology and expert integrated controlling algorithms. maxon's own in-house developed speed controller is particularly impressive through its performance, price and size.
As well as being a top performer, attractively priced and very small, the new amplifier's other key feature is that it can be easily adapted to specific requirements. The free choice of starting sequence is a major benefit, as it allows the attached motor to start up easily, even when the motor data or load ratios are unfavourable. The DECS 50/5 also provides control inputs for selecting motor direction, enable and braking. As usual, the necessary protective functions have all been fully implemented. An operating status display (LED) and speed monitor output complete the convenient control features.

To control the speed of the DC motor gradually, smooth DC voltage across the armature of the motor needs to be regulated along with the fixed DC voltage across the Field winding in the case of the 4 wire DC motors. The DC drive featured here, generates the variable DC voltage using phase angle control technique incorporating Diode / SCR rectifier. The DC voltage across the armature winding can be smoothly varied using the potentiometer or using the external control signal of 4-20mA or (0-5)VDC. Models are available for 1/8HP to 5HP DC motors operating on 100VDC to 400VDC.
APPLICATIONS
Suitable for small machines in Plastic, Packaging and Pharmaceutical industries where smooth and steady control over DC motor is required

TMCM-160
Description
1-axis BLDC controller/driver module 5A/40V
The TMCM-160 is a controller / driver module for general brushless DC motor applications. It integrates velocity and torque control as well as a hall sensor based positioning mode. The position resolution depends on the motor, i.e. a standard 8 pole motor gives a motor axis resolution of 15 degrees. The module can be used in stand alone operation or remote controlled via a RS-232 or RS-485 interface (ordering option). Its small form factor (50 x 92 mm²) allows for integration onto a user board as a plug-on module or for panel mounting, by connecting flat ribbon cables to the two 2x13 2.54mm standard header connectors. Multi-axis drives can be easily realized by integrating multiple modules on one baseboard. A standard baseboard (BB-160) is available.

DAC Motors and Drives
The DAC family includes digital drives and brushless motors for axes motion control. The DAC and DSC drives have direct power (400V three phase) to simplify installation within the electrical cabinet to reduce cost and save space. To complete the family the DAM (Digital Axes Module) is available with a digital SERCOS connection to the numerical control. The drives' inherent noise immunity provides another advantage by significantly reducing wiring costs.
The associated DS series of motors are synchronous brushlesses with rare earth permanent magnets, and have a DC bus of 540 VCC. They provide high power with low current absorption, and improved dynamics with low losses.
