Designed to offer outstanding control performance in a compact DIN rail package the RFS provides a comprehensive solution for a wide variety of applications: such as plastic manufacturing, packaging machinery and food processing applications requiring precise heat/cool control and process protection alarming.
Ideal as a slave PID loop to a programmable logic controller the RFS offers a cost effective alternative to performing loops in a PLC while at the same time improving loop performance. All inputs and outputs can be read directly over the Modbus communication interface by the supervisory host system. Additionally, the master can write to RFS outputs that are not assigned as alarm or status functions. This expands the available PLC and host supervisory system I/O, simplifies machine troubleshooting and provides the ability to perform remote diagnostics.
The RFS accepts one universal process input suitable for thermocouple, resistance thermometer or linear mV/mA and coupled with a responsive Smart PID self tuning algorithm it is equipped with special functions including soft start and non-linear cooling. Smart tuning automatically adjusts the PID sets according to the current process dynamics without the need to cycle the process and therefore has no detrimental effect on the current operating conditions.

Requirements for current supply in automation, machine, and process control have
continuously increased over the past years. Function safety of electronical control,
as well as safe operation of automated systems are top priority.
Precisely defined supply levels still cause problems when put into practice. Voltage
and load deviations reduce product lifetime and can lead into downtime. Therefore
it is necessary to use a power supply unit.

The galvanic isolation of the input and output sides as well as the alteration of the
mains voltage (i.e. into a low voltage) is achieved by the transformer.
The power supply units to EN 61558 are built with either top or side mounted
bridge rectifier and electronics. This both protects the electronics and enables the
units to meet touch protection guidelines BGV-A2 and EN 60529.
All transformers/power supply units are fitted with angled fixing brackets and key
holes to aid simple mounting.
In applications where less than 5 A is required, it is often not practicle to replace
linear regulated units with primary switch mode units. This is particularly true
where the whole system is supplied by an unregulated or large switch mode unit.
