Mass flow techniques provide more RELIABLE, REPEATABLE AND ACCURATE gas flow rate measurements compared to volumetric methods such as rotometers and turbine meters. Mass flow measurements use the density of the gas to translate mass flow units (kg or lbs) to units of familiar volumetric terms (liters/min). However the measurements are still mass units (we call those units STANDARD liter/min (slm)) and they do not change with temperature and pressure changes. We do this by referencing just one, specific temperature and one specific pressure (STP).
300 Series mass flow instruments have flow ranges from 0-5 sccm to 0-3,000 slm; use all metal seals, provide analog outputs, and are constructed of stainless steel. The mass flow controllers have normally closed valves. Corrosive gases, with the exception of the halogens, pressures up to 1000 psig (optional) are easily measured.

AALBORG®'s unique microprocessor-driven "Smart" DIGITAL MASS FLOW CONTROLLERS allow one to program, record, analyze and control flow rates of various gases with a computer via an RS 485 interface.
Programmable for various control functions such as SET POINT, TOTALIZER, STOP TOTALIZER, READ TOTALIZER, totalize from PRESET FLOW, stop at PRESET TOTAL, AUTO ZERO, PROGRAMMABLE FLOW and more. Auto zero feature utilizes an automatic balancing circuit that virtually eliminates drift of zero and span. Two dry contact closures turn external process equipment ON and OFF. Gas flow rates are unaffected by temperature and pressure variations within stated limitations.
Extensive on-board memory enables each controller to store NIST traceable calibrations for up to ten gases. Controllers also have conversion factors for 256 different gases in hardware memory making this a most versatile flow controller.

Sensirion’s SFC3000 is a small, fully digital mass flow controller for high-volume OEM applications. It offers fast and accurate control of gas flows over a very wide range. The digitally calibrated and temperature compensated sensor signal is converted directly into a signal which is used in the digital controlling circuit to control the valve. The eP Digital Controller is a closed loop servo controllerfor tension and compression testing machines. It is a pre-settable unit that simplifies materials and product testing and requires a minimum amount of training. The eP features load and crosshead position inputs plus enhanced closed-loop servo capabilities for accurate and repeatable testing. It eP provides one pre test and two test control seg-ments. The new Digital Indication and Control Instrument VarioFox from AFRISO is a compact, ready-to-connect universal measurement and control instrument with integrated sensor supply and 2 (also choice of 4) voltage-free switching outputs. The instrument is very easy to operate and to program due to its text-orientated menu guidance (German, English or French).
VarioFox features a measurement unit listing, where units can be freely edited, as well as a free scaling/calibration of start and end of scale display values (99.999 - 9,999) which allows for almost all possibly required parameter settings. For horizontal cylindrical and spherical tanks integrated calibration charts can be accessed. For non-linear vessels or specially fabricated tanks a customer- specific 24-point linearization is available. The highest and lowest operational values are memorized but can also be utilized as instrument-internal visual and audible alarms on request. An alarm mute/accept button on the front of the instrument requires the responsible operator to act and this in itself provides for additional operational safety.
The measuring instrument works off an AC 50-253 V or DC 20-253 V supply and integrates a sensor input (4-20 mA, 0-20 mA, 0-10 V) and two isolated separate analogue outputs (0/4-20 mA und 0-10 mA).

Eaton's Fusion Integrated Machine Controller has advanced features, including a five-preset high speed counter with prewarn, a totalizer with preset, a batch counter with preset and a ratemeter (tachometer) with high and low setpoints. Unique to the count control world, the Fusion has five output relays, along with two transistors and two analog setpoint or follower outputs. Its ten available parameter sets of pre-loaded values are useful as recipes, for job-stacking or for a variety of application-specific purposes.
The Fusion has a multi-line alphanumeric display which can be programmed to show text messages, logic-generated prompts, alarms and machine status. Up to eight screens can be shown or optionally locked out.
With its ladder logic, the Fusion is actually a 26 I/O controller, making it a complete control for many machines and processes, integrating the functions of external timers, pushbuttons, power supplies, indicating lights, control relays and other components in a single box.
