Simple to be intalled and compact; the Airing radial units are engaged by an air tube and can be used as drum brakes (in stopping and holding applications) or clutches (to connect two shafts directly or through a pulley).
Maximum torque from 40 to 4 000 Nm.
The high thickness friction pad and the reliable air tube ensure high performances and low maintenance cost.

The DC and DCV constricting drum clutches and brakes are found all throughout industry in general power transmission duties.
Constructed using an integral rim and tube actuator, the DC has low inertia and high misalignment capacity, offering a simple solution to less arduous clutch and brake requirements.
A full range of options is available: Dual flanges for back to back mounting giving double torque capacity. Multiple air inlets for increased response speed. Split construction to avoid removal of the shafts on in-line drives. And wether you require just the friction shoe or mounting pins, or a complete actuator and rim assembly, all are backed by the Wichita name for service and reliability

Airflex CB element assemblies are used as both clutches and brakes in general power transmission service. The primary feature of the CB design and construction is the Airflex torsional resilient principle made possible by the transmission of power through the side walls of the flexible neoprene and cord actuating tube. This flexibility also permits minor shaft misalignment.
|
|
|
Airflex E elements are primarily used as slip clutches or tension brakes; however, they can also be used for general power transmission service. Torque is transmitted from the friction shoes to the element housing through torque bars. Engagement occurs when air expands the actuating tube forcing the friction shoes against the inside diameter of the drum. Release springs assist shoe disengagement and counteracts centrifugal force.
|
|
|
Airflex VE elements were specially designed for greater heat dissipation capacity in an expanding type element. Available in a limited number of sizes, they offer all of the type E features.
|
|
|
Airflex EB element assemblies are used in both clutch and brake service with light starting loads. The EB is similar in design to the CB except that it is an expanding type unit.
|
|
|
Airflex ER couplings are expanding units with neoprene facing. As such, they combine the advantages of a flexible and disconnect coupling. Engagement of the element should occur when there is no speed differential between driving and driven shaft.

Get More for Less in E-Stop Braking — By Breaking from Convention
# 28 Torque Ranges
# Three Frame Sizes
# 6 Disc Configurations
High Torque, Low inertia Engineering
Innovators at low inertia brake engineering, Force Control Industries, Inc. reduces size and mass to deliver more of what you need from an E-Stop brake - fast acting response - while paring away what you don't want.
Compact, Action Packed Design
Highly compact, space efficient designs, Force Control Industries, Inc. E-Stop Brakes feature a small diameter, multi-stack brake stack. This minimizes cyclic inertia of the brake itself for faster stopping, while multiplying braking surfaces. The brake stacks are fitted with unique dry friction facing material rated for heavy duty performance. Exceptionally durable, the material provides a high-coefficient of friction for high stopping torque in a small package.
Purpose Built Design
Unlike general purpose brakes adapted for E-Stop applications, our purpose built design doesn't need to be large and heavy to dissipate high heat loads, because it isn't subjected to frequent braking cycles. You only need one stop per episode - but then with the fastest possible response time.
So, we designed our E-Stop Brake with small diameter, multiple discs for high braking torque with low inertia. It's the same formula we have applied for years in our high performance oil shear brakes.
Multiple springs provide fast response and balanced braking torque, plus enhanced safety factor in event of a broken spring.

Mistral
Wichita's Mistral pneumatic tension brake is attuned to the needs of the corrugating market for which it was originally designed. It is also a versatile product which is finding favor in additional tensioning applications. Wichita designers and engineers consulted extensively with mill roll stand manufactures and users to offer a tension brake ideally suited to needs of this particular market. The result is a compact, high performance, versatile brake capable of handling the tensioning needs of the latest machine designs, as well as existing equipment. The Mistral paves the way for increasing line speeds by 5.4 feet/sec. from 810 feet/min. (or slower) to 1,140 feet/min.

This product group includes all plate type friction components for clutches and brakes which possess driving teeth or lugs on their outer or inner diameters. Both plate and counterplate must be considered together, in general one plate with friction material works together with a counterplate of steel or cast iron.
The plates are the important functional element in every clutch and brake, and have been developed in many different ways since the early days of clutches and brakes. Ortlinghaus has played an important role in the total development of friction clutches, one example of its contributions being the patented, well known, sprung steel plate, known world-wide under the trademark 'Sinus'. The use for the first time of sintered plates in clutches, was also an important development. In the course of this development every relevant technological step forward - whether in frictional material, mechanical or heat treatment process -has been applied directly to the manufacture of the plates. As a result Ortlinghaus plates today contain the results of nearly one hundred years of research and development and represent a highly specialised component.
Supported by the experience gained over this long period of time, Ortlinghaus is today, able to provide a very comprehensive range of clutch and brake plates in a multitude of different dimensions, friction combinations and surface patterns. The number of standard plates listed in our catalogue is large and most of these are available ex stock, satisfying most of our customer requirement from this well proven range. Our customers benefit from quick availability angood price arrived at from volume production. Should it not be possible to solve a particular design problem with these plates, as listed in our catalogue, we are always ready to manufacture plates to meet specific customer wishes. In this area too our experience is extensive, every requirement can be satisfied with the aid of the most modern manufacturing techniques forms of oil channels.

Discs
For the drive technology, e.g. in clutches and brakes for gearboxes, wheel and chain driven vehicles, conveying systems and ships, discs and flat products in various designs up to a diameter of 1000 mm are manufactured in specific production plants.
The large variety of machining capacity, such as punching and broaching, thermal treatment, grinding combined with systematic quality assurance over the entire working process, provides optimum conditions for material and surface quality, hardness and stress relieving, parallelism and flatness.
Straight blanking punching technique
The market and consequently our customers and interested parties are continuously claiming on us:
* to increase the attractiveness of the products by involving new ways of thinking and working.
* to shorten the developing times
* to optimise the adaptation to the market requirements
To master these requirements of the global market we have made investments - among others - into the straight blanking punching technique.
This investment enables us to offer the following advantages:
* improvement of the cutting edges by up to 75%, consequently considerable increase of the bearing share compared with the conventional punching technique;
* variety of production possibilities in an economically large operation field between the mechanical production and the fine blanking technique;
* tool manufacture which is favourable in price
