Information Transmitting Coupling
Berg's Information Transmitting Coupling series offer zero backlash and high torsional rigidity. They are ideal for precision positioning applications where constant velocity is required for accurate feedback control.
The single piece Beamed couplings are offered in single, three and six beam design to offer engineers the largest design criteria available. They are manufactured in stainless steel, aluminum and Delrin.
We also carry Wafer Spring, bellows and sleeve couplings within this group. This product line is also available in metric sizes.

The connection of two shaft ends in consideration of misalignment and axial movements is a fundamental effort in mechanical construction.
In this case flexible couplings are used, which are worldwide available in various designs and constructions.
RINGSPANN manufacts a compact and reliable flexible coupling based on the Oldham-Principle.
Advantages:
Excellent misalignment capability
Minimal radial forces
Torsional rigid
No stick-slip action
Compact and robust design
easy mounting
very easy combinable with other transmission components

The Zero-Max CD Coupling is a unique hybrid coupling combining the best features found in both steel disk and elastomeric couplings. Through its patented open arm design and use of rugged composite materials, the coupling offers high misalignment and high torsional stiffness.
All models are available with Setscrew or Clamp style hubs. Hubs are available with steel or aluminum hubs for single flex and double flex.
Single Flex and Double Flex are now available with Low Inertia Aluminum Hubs.
|
|
Zero-Max has designed the Schmidt line of couplings specifically for difficult misalignment applications.
The five different Schmidt Coupling types -- Offset, Inline, 5D, Flexible, and Control-Flex® -- provide a full range of design options for solving most misalignment problems.

The disc coupling is made with two hubs and a thin metallic disc. The metallic disc is the torque-transmitting element. This type is designed to bend in different directions (parallel offset). The disc design is popular in servo, stepper and drive applications for taking the load off the bearings.
Two hubs & thin metallic disc
• Metallic disc transmits torque
• Two-disc style allows bends in different directions (parallel offset)
• Misalignment up to 5 degrees
• Torsionally rigid
|
|
No need for lubrication and maintenance.
There is no need to disassemble the coupling to inspect.
Additionally, the condition of the discs can be checked
while the machine is running, using a strobe light.
The machine misalignment can be assessed.
Torsionally rigid without any backlash.
No wearing parts, high resistance to harsh environmental
conditions.
Infinite life if properly aligned.

Clutch Couplings
Automatic freewheel clutches are used in conjunction with a double engagement gear coupling. They can be produced in close coupled or spacer design to suit. The clutch coupling must be stopped to check internal lube oil on a scheduled basis. If space is available, the recommended choice is a Marland CECON clutch with full oil system for non-stop operation.

A jaw coupling is made with two metallic hubs with an elastomer (plastic) called the spider. The spider material is soft and mainly designed to absorb vibration. It is the first piece to wear and need to be replaced. The unit functions to minimize parallel or angular misalignment at high rpm. The spider center is ideal for motor connection applications needing shock absorption.
Two metallic hubs & a spider (elastomer)
• Conventional straight or curved jaw
• Ideal for servo applications
• Excellent shock absorption
• Curved jaws reduce deformation of spider
• Limits centrifugal force
• Balanced to handle high RPM, 40k+
• Functions with minimal parallel or angular misalignment
• Unit Transmits torque in event of spider failure
• Mix and match spider to accommodate multiple environments and applications
