Baldor's line of brake motors are available in totally enclosed fan cooled, open drip proof, or explosion proof designs, in either single or three phase. Stock ratings are available from .25 horsepower through 30 horsepower. These motors use a mechanical spring set brake with a manual release. Brake motors may be used on machine tools, conveyors, door operators, speed reducers, hoists, or any application requiring quick stops and positive holds.

The IEC-normalized BN motors comply with all the applicable international standards, including the EMC and LV Directives. They are available in the 0.06 - 30 kW range in the foot and the flange mounting version, the latter in both the IM B5 and the IM B14 configuration. Single and dual pole version available with generally, three brake options offered, one DC and two AC supply, lending further flexibility to the system. Finally, all motors are inverter duty.

Grove Gear offers a lightweight alternative to both cast iron worm and coaxial (inline) helical gear reducers. Although there are pros and cons to cast iron and aluminum, one application might strongly lean toward cast iron where another may require only aluminum construction. AC induction hoist and traction motors offer higher efficiency and smaller size than DC sepex or series wound motors with the same output and thermal performance.
They are without commutator and brushes and require no maintenance. With this type of motor, acceleration and braking torque at higher speeds are not limited by the commutator, which results in shorter stopping distances without the use of a mechanical brake. They also offer longer battery life and more precise control.
