The new range of Premium machines offers the very best in high technology, precision accuracy and long term durability and reduces the need for options. Standard premium features include the 3 sided vertical drop tank, high speed LQ33W generator and Super Pika W fine finishing circuit. All Sodick Premium machines feature the new 3 sided vertical drop tank; a revolutionary design whereby the work tank retracts fully into the body of the unit, allowing easy machining of even larger work pieces. The EXC100L, built with ceramic components throughout and using air sliders for CNC guidance, is the most advanced linear EDM on the market. With wire diameters down to 20µm, the finest and most accurate results can be achieved.
For the first time in the world the EXC100L is equipped with a totally non-contact X-Y cross table with Sodick- made ceramic air bearings and linear motors. Sodick’s expertise in EDM innovation using 3D design systems, the latest CAE technologies and numerous simulations have made it possible to create an improved basic machine structure of optimised rib arrangements which increase rigidity by approximately 70%. Using the new AD325L machine deformation is minimised, allowing optimum performance of high-speed and rapid acceleration linear motors. Furthermore the original design of an independent X and Y-axis plus an efficient machine layout leads to a longer stroke, smaller footprint and highly accurate machining capability.

UPJ-2 / UPH-2
The world's only conventional horizontal wire EDM machine, the ultra-high accuracy UPJ-2 automatically threads and machines with wire as small as 0.02 mm in diameter. The UPJ-2 is ideal for micromachining applications, such as gears for micro-miniature molds, fiber optics, inkjet nozzles and medical instruments. With its unique mechanical construction, the UPJ-2 can automatically thread a 0.02mm wire through a 0.07 mm diameter start hole with a 0.15 mm pitch offering high reliability and performance. The machine's dielectric fluid operation helps to minimize spark gap and enhance quality finish, while the unique core and slug removal unit improve particulate flushing and enhance uptime. The entire machine is enclosed within a Makino Thermal Guard unique temperature system, providing temperature control to within 1 o F (0.5 o C). The tight temperature control helps deliver high-accuracy machining by maintaining a stable machine attitude even during long hours of operation. A 50-nanometer (0.00005mm) scale feedback system is standard for enhanced positioning accuracy. The machine features a Windows; CE; operating system and a touch panel, 15-inch liquid crystal display, with an Ethernet interface for network support.

A part of Makino's award-winning U-Series of wire EDM machines, the U86 relies on advanced generator technology for significantly faster cycle times while achieving superior surface finishes and workpiece accuracy. With a rigid, compact design capable of handling large molds and dies within a small machine footprint, the U86 can slash cycle time by 50 percent while achieving high quality surface finishes of 35mRmax in just three machining passes. Its sturdy, fixed-bed table brings maximum rigidity while its machining speeds reach up to 350mm2/min. The end result is high-precision molds delivered quickly. The U86 meets and exceeds the demanding tolerances of Wire EDM applications using the K-generator and its unique voltage waveform delivery and monitoring capabilities.
