A Rubber Expansion Joint is a flexible coupling made of synthetic or natural elastomers, mesh reinforcements designed to compensate elongations and contractions caused by variations of temperature, shock absorption and absorption of vibrations in fluid transmission installations.

Rubber compensators are often used in structural installations, e.g. in air-conditioning and heating technology, for pressure booster systems and for drinking water supply systems. A special design is available for heating technology; it can be used at temperatures up to 130°C and is subject to self-monitoring to DIN 4809 as controlled by the German technical inspection agency.
