Sandvik Coromant is now launching CoroMill 690, a long edge cutter for titanium milling, specifically suitable for aerospace components, such as the structural parts of airframes, wings and fuselages and landing gear. The amount of titanium in high strength complex components is increasing and with this anticipated demand there is a critical need for improving machining efficiency.
CoroMill 690 is a high productivity cutter, with cutting inserts with four cutting edges for economic 2-D profile operations and optimised chip flutes to reduce chip jamming. Every insert pocket has a threaded coolant hole prepared for a nozzle for high pressure coolant delivery to optimize chip evacuation. The chip evacuation is highly appreciated when face and shoulder milling in cavities, in pockets or in full slots.
First choice applications include circular interpolation from a pre-drilled hole; edging and contouring and repeated square shoulder milling. The iLock rigid interface keeps the inserts rigid for consistently accurate milling. Axial support prevents insert breakages on the bottom row and chip jamming on the second row.
The CoroMill 690 long edge cutter is designed for use with the Coromant Capto modular tool holder system for stability and shank clearance, essential when machining long overhangs and reaches. The cutter is available in diameters of 50 to 100 mm, with two insert styles and closer pitch on large diameters for profiling.
The cutting inserts come in grades GC1030 or GC2040 in SL geometry, optimised for edging in titanium.

ISCAR offers a wide range of face mills using a variety of different types and sizes of inserts. The HELI2000 inserts are available in 10 and 15 mm (.394 and .591") sizes for an easy and accurate cut and a high surface finish. The square QUAD2000 series of inserts are available in 10, 12 and 16mm (.394, .472 and .630") sizes.
MILL2000 inserts come in 3 and 20 mm (.512 and .787") sizes for rough milling at high feed rates.
The versatile CHAMMILL milling tools can carry four types of inserts in the same pocket; the HELIOCTO uses both octagonal and round milling inserts in the same pocket. Many cutters are also available with 45° and 75° lead angles.

CoroMill 490
Sandvik Coromant has launched the first of a new generation of shoulder mills, the CoroMill 490, which reduces machining costs by up to 25 per cent. CoroMill 490 is a high-precision tool for applications where reduced depths of cut and less final machining are required, as with the near net shape precision forgings and castings used by machine shops for higher productivity. Less, but more precise, work is needed on these castings and forgings. This is possible with the four edge insert design of CoroMill 490 and reduces substantially the cost per component for customers.
CoroMill 390
A new range of damped silent tools from Sandvik Coromant is bringing substantial performance benefits to complement the existing range of long and slender CoroMill® 390 milling cutters. Integrated dampening offers more efficient, vibration free machining to improve the performance of cutting tools working in deep cavities and pockets. The stabilization of the machining process in this way provides wider machine utilization for face and shoulder milling, especially in long overhangs and will boost the capabilities of long reaching tools.Reducing vibration in often tricky situations provides the confidence needed to increase the cutting parameters without compromising work piece quality. This enables the achievement of greater machining success with the CoroMill® 390 - including improved component surface finish and longer tool life.

V590 Square Shoulder Mills
The V590 has positive top-form geometry inserts to create lower cutting forces. The cutters are designed to generate a true 90° square shoulder, eliminating secondary operations saving time and improving efficiency. Coolant through holes on end mills is standard and large chip gullets ensure efficient chip evacuation. The V590 is ideal for ramping and helical interpolation operations as well.

CoroMill® 245-18 is a robust cutter with large, thick inserts capable of heavy chip removal rates. This larger version of CoroMill 245-12 widens the choices available and will cover more demanding applications.
CoroMill 245-18 is light cutting making it the power-efficient first choice facemill for most ISO-P, -M and -K materials in the ISO 50 and 60 machining centres. It is capable of milling surfaces with excellent finish – particularly when used with wiper inserts.
Reinforced cutting edges for 6-8 mm deep cuts within a feed range of 0.2 up to 0.4 mm enable the cutter to mill blanks with forging scale and large variations in required depth of cut. Under favourable conditions a max cutting depth of 10 mm is achievable.
CoroMill 245-18 is available in diameters 80-250 mm as coarse, close and extra close pitch for maximum performance in different machining conditions.
