TELECOMMUNICATION OPTICAL FIBRE CABLES
In 1982, Cabelte was the first optical fibre cables manufacturer in Portugal. Since then, in the whole world one is observing an increased use of optical transmissions in face of its high information transport capacity.
The optical fibre cables range can be divided in two areas:
- Insulated cables
- OPGW cables

Optical Fiber, part of Corning’s telecommunications segment, is the world’s leading producer of optical fiber and continues to lead the telecommunications industry in the development of new fiber designs and technology, offering a full line of single-mode and multimode optical fibers for all network applications.

Fibercore Limited HiBi is a singlemode, polarisation-preserving optical fibre designed for high-performance interferometric and polarimetric sensors, integrated optics and coherent communications.
The characteristic 'Bow-Tie' stress-applying parts, or 'SAPs' act like opposing wedges to generate the optimum stress distribution within the fibre. This unique and patented design gives you the very best in both performance and handling - maximum birefringence, with minimum stress-breakout when cleaved, connectorised or polished.

When your work environment calls for something more than the standard 250 µm primary coating, Fibercore Limited optical fibers are also available as ruggedised cables. The standard LT3 design has a 3.0 mm diameter PVC outer jacket, surrounding aramid yarn strength members. The fiber itself is contained within the inner, polypropylene loose-tube of 1.8 mm in diameter.
LT3 provides essential protection for valuable fibers in all indoor and light outdoor applications and is fully compatible with the Fibercore Limited range of polarisation maintaining connectors.

Fiber optic cables can be made in different lengths with different type of connectors, such as SMA905, ST or FC/PC connectors. The fibers are also available for different wavelength regions, like Deep UV solarization resistant fibers, UV/VIS fibers and VIS/NIR fibers.
We offer different shielding, like Kevlar reinforced PVC sleeving with PTFE inner tubing (standard) or metal shielding with PVC-XY or PTFE inner tubing for higher temperature and more industrial applications.
Depending on the intended wavelength range a UV/VIS (200-800 nm) or a VIS/NIR (350-2000 nm) fiber is used. In the following table replace xx by respectively UV or IR. For deep UV use specify -SR (solarization resistant).

A new fiber and termination system in the popular 62.5 µm size makes on-site crimp & cleave connectorization possible. These optical fibers are drop-in compatible with other 62.5 configurations and offer superior connector retention and performance--maximum bandwidth with minimal insertion loss. Our 62.5 µm products are rugged, easily terminated, yet still cost-effective. ST or SMA connectors can be directly crimped to the cladding. Additionally, we offer kits containing all the tools necessary to perform terminations in the field and test those connections with an Insertion Loss Test Kit.

OFS offers an entire product line based on its flagship 200 µm HCS Optical Fiber Cables. This popular and versatile multimode fiber employs a rugged hard clad silica which both protects the fiber mechanically and allows it to be quickly and easily terminated using crimp-and-cleave connectors. OFS's 200 µm HCS cables are recommended for use with most industry-standard communications protocols and can be easily connectorized with standard V-Pin, ST, SMA, and F07 connectors. Additionally, we offer kits containing all the tools necessary to perform terminations in the field and test those connections with an Insertion Loss Test Kit.
