GfG's fixed gas detection systems are available as easy to operate single point units or as larger systems with several hundred transmitters. These multiple point systems consist of controllers and transmitters that communicate with each other. The transmitter changes the measured gas concentration to an electrical signal which is transfered to the controller. The controller shows the gas concentration in a display and immediately activates alarming devices in case of a gas leak. Advanced features such as data logging or online data transmission allow the user to easily monitor ambient changes in the environment. The Stand Alone unit is a combination of both transmitter and controller.
The transmitter's sensor is the "sense of smell" of a fixed gas detection system. The sensor is located in a metal sensor enclosure which is attached to the transmitter and converts the gas concentration into an electric signal. Electronics inside the transmitter changes this electrical signal for interference free transfer to the controller. The transmitter and the controller can be installed several 100 meters apart from each other.

The DS2 Docking Station provides the ultimate flexibility for managing your gas monitors wherever you use them. The DS2 gives you all of the benefits of consistent automated calibration, record keeping, battery recharging and instrument diagnostics for your monitors to limit your liabilities and safety hazards. Two way wireless and/or ethernet connectivity enables you to link up to 100 stand-alone Instrument Docking Stations (IDSs) from remote locations anywhere in your facility and relay the data back to one central database for total instrument management. A graphical user interface tool (DSSAC) allows an administrator to view operations on each Docking Station from a network computer, making it easy to track instruments, print reports, set events and change parameters for any location.

What if you could maintain and manage your fixedpoint gas monitor fleet without leaving your desk?
The advantages would be significant. Manually calibrating every fixed monitor in a facility is a time consuming distraction from your core business. The units may be in hard-to-reach places creating additional safety hazards. These and other obstacles make it difficult to follow industry best practices for routine testing and calibration.
iTrans™ DS2 Docking Station™ is the first system to automate calibration, record-keeping and instrument
diagnostics for fixed-point gas monitors. Hands-off maintenance and a snapshot view of your entire gas
monitor fleet allow you to:
• Maintain your gas monitors more safely, efficiently and reliably
• Increase equipment reliability
• Eliminate safety concerns
• Save money on calibration and testing
• Focus more resources toward your core business
A graphical user interface tool allows an administrator to view operations on each Docking Station from a network computer. From here, you can initiate calibrations and instrument tests remotely, print reports, set events, and run diagnostics for any or all instruments at any location.
The DS2’s flexible architecture minimizes installation costs, whether you’re managing one instrument or an entire fleet of fixed-mounted or portable instruments.

When used with gas and smoke sensors (refer to page 96), GRM
continuously monitors explosive gases, vapours and/or smoke and
generates alarms. The GRM electronic gas and smoke detector is installed in boiler rooms and basements, storage, office and living rooms as well as
public facilities or industrial buildings for increased safety (building
technology). The evaluation unit is designed for either wall mounting
or control panel mounting by means of a mounting frame (refer
to page 74). GRM has an alarm threshold and is fitted with a relay
contact. When the threshold value is exceeded, the unit generates an
alarm signal. The red "Alarm" LED lights up and the alarm relay
switches. An additional integrated buzzer provides an audible alarm.
This audible alarm can be muted with the re-set button. If the condition
which caused an alarm is cleared, the visual alarm can then also
be re-set by once again pressing the re-set button. Only then can
the alarm be muted with the re-set button. However, if the gas concentration level is still above the alarm threshold level, muting of the alarm is not possible.

The freely programmable, self-monitoring limit monitors made by J. Dittrich Elektronic evaluate the signals measured by the connected measuring systems (e.g. for toxic or explosive gases, oxygen, carbon dioxide, temperature) and trigger an alarm or other subsequent functions when the values rise above or fall below a certain limit value.
An alphanumeric display constantly shows the measured values.
Different measuring systems can be connected to a limit monitor via 4-20 mA interfaces; altogether at most 2 measuring systems with type GWZ-S2, 4 with type GWZ-S4 and 6 with type GWZ-S6.
Output of the signals
The limit monitor outputs its signals via 4 relays:
Two limit indicating relays signal when the values rise above or fall below the limit values; hence, they can, for example, trigger a preliminary or main alarm visually or acoustically or switch a ventilator on and off.
A horn relay is provided additionally for controlling the horn.
Since the limit monitor checks itself for any cable breaks, short-circuits and power failure, the alarm relay system indicates any malfunctions in the device.

In many industrial applications, safety is ensured around the clock by a fixed gas detection system. Hazards can have several origins: the release of toxic gases, oxygen deficiency or enrichment as well as the presence of combustible gases and vapors. When detected at an early stage, countermeasures can be initiated to protect personnel, workplaces and equipment.
