The freely programmable, self-monitoring limit monitors made by J. Dittrich Elektronic evaluate the signals measured by the connected measuring systems (e.g. for toxic or explosive gases, oxygen, carbon dioxide, temperature) and trigger an alarm or other subsequent functions when the values rise above or fall below a certain limit value.
An alphanumeric display constantly shows the measured values.
Different measuring systems can be connected to a limit monitor via 4-20 mA interfaces; altogether at most 2 measuring systems with type GWZ-S2, 4 with type GWZ-S4 and 6 with type GWZ-S6.
Output of the signals
The limit monitor outputs its signals via 4 relays:
Two limit indicating relays signal when the values rise above or fall below the limit values; hence, they can, for example, trigger a preliminary or main alarm visually or acoustically or switch a ventilator on and off.
A horn relay is provided additionally for controlling the horn.
Since the limit monitor checks itself for any cable breaks, short-circuits and power failure, the alarm relay system indicates any malfunctions in the device.

The MYCO2 is a high performance infra-red gas sensor, designed for monitoring environmental CO2 in protected crops and demand controlled ventilation.
MYCO2 is a robust, low cost CO2 monitor, housed in an IP65 rated enclosure against the ingress of water and particulates. The monitor operates on a diffusion/convection principle and therefore no sampling pump is required.
This monitor can easily be wall-mounted.
For many years, Edinburgh Sensors has manufactured infra-red, dual wavelength sensors with a single optical path and without any moving parts. As a result, the sensor is highly gas specific, and insensitive to other gases and water vapour.
This ensures long term stability and accuracy over extended periods, removing the need for frequent re-calibration.
The MYCO2 sensor can be customised to suit specific applications, placing the design control in the hands of the system designer. The user selectable functions include linear analogue output options, alarm function software and automatic temperature correction.
The MYCO2 sensors are aspirated by a combination of diffusion and convection within the sensor head. This gas sampling method is silent, reliable and provides a fast response time. Convection is used to circulate gas between the sensor head and the diffusion cell with gas exchange occurring, by diffusion, at the surface of the diffusion membrane. Since the gas in the cell circulates within a closed system, all optics are protected from the ingress of dust. No additional pumping or filtering of the gas is necessary.

Fastest warning for explosion hazards
With bright alarm LEDs and a loud buzzer the transmitter CC28 (ATEX) warns of combustible gases. This avoids expenses for additional Ex-proof buzzers and Ex-proof alarm lights and their costly wiring.
The improved sensor technology and a special „chimney effect“ make the CC28 the catalytic combustion transmitter for combustible gases with the shortest response time worldwide. The proven delta alarm of GfG’s GMA controllers reduces the response time even further – a very important feature particularly for handling explosion dangers. This gives the user important seconds to take counter measures or to get to safety.
Adjustments are done directly at the transmitter by means of touch keys (one man calibration) without opening the casing. An optional remote control facilitates inspection, service and calibration considerably, e.g. if the transmitter is mounted close to the ceiling; you do not have to climb up a ladder.
The gas concentration can be read directly at the transmitter, at the remote control and at the controller. Alternatively you may decide for a low-cost model of the CC28 without display or alarm.

The Guardian range of infrared gas monitors offers near-analyser quality
continuous sampling, measurement and display of target gas concentrations at an attractive price.
The Guardian SP is a high accuracy monitor offering increased short term stability in lower ranges than Guardian plus models.
For many years, Edinburgh Sensors has pioneered novel non-dispersive infra-red dual wavelength sensors with a single optical path and without moving parts. This ensures long term stability, without the need for frequent re-calibration and makes the sensor highly gas specific and insensitive to other gases or water vapour.
The Guardian plus uses a robust infra-red source, proven in the Gascard II sensor, to ensure long lifetime and reduced susceptibility to shock. The reliability is further enhanced by the elimination of all moving parts from the sensor head.
The Guardian SP is easily maintained requiring only a few minutes per year to replace the hydrophobic particle filter in the inlet housing and a simple calibration procedure to check the accuracy, typically once a year. Applications include plant physiology, horticulture, fruit storage, leak detection, landfill, ventilation control, process control, furnace applications.
The Guardian SP includes an internal pump, liquid crystal display and temperature correction. It also offers a range of user-selectable bit-switches to control the latching alarms and analogue output options. The input power to the unit is user selectable to cover world-wide voltage and frequency standards.

Simtronics is pleased to announce the put on the market of the GD1, a new generation of open path detector.
The GD1 innovates by creating a new standard of toxic gas detection. At the heart of the detector is a tuneable laser diode that eliminates environmental effects from sun, rain, and fog. The laser scans single absorption lines where there is no interference from other gases. This new technology constitutes an important progress with exceptional performances and a extreme reduced maintenance.
Unlike traditional methods for detecting H2S (MOS or EC cell), the GD1 needs no recalibration and can replace multiple standard detectors to cover the same risk. Compared to traditional detectors the GD1 offers:
• Faster detection
• Reduced maintenance
• A life calibration
• Fast acting
The GD1 is also available with a dual output gas configuration, Methane and Hydrogen Sulphide.
Supplied with worldwide hazardous area approvals. Suitable for use in SIL 2 systems.
With its level of detection lower than 5ppm and it is faster response time (T90 < 5 sec) the GD1 is ideal to ensure the personnel safety on petrochemical installations onshore or offshore or for the sites of treatment of waster water.
Furthermore, the GD1 offers real cost savings, using a single transmitter / receiver pair, the detector covers distances of up to 100 metres. Installation and maintenance costs are reduced as fewer devices are needed to cover the same risk as several point detectors.
As with all Simtronics’ products, the GD1 is designed for early detection of hazardous events. It’s built to work safely in extreme areas and withstand the hardest environments onshore and offshore.

GfG's fixed gas detection systems are available as easy to operate single point units or as larger systems with several hundred transmitters. These multiple point systems consist of controllers and transmitters that communicate with each other. The transmitter changes the measured gas concentration to an electrical signal which is transfered to the controller. The controller shows the gas concentration in a display and immediately activates alarming devices in case of a gas leak. Advanced features such as data logging or online data transmission allow the user to easily monitor ambient changes in the environment. The Stand Alone unit is a combination of both transmitter and controller.
The transmitter's sensor is the "sense of smell" of a fixed gas detection system. The sensor is located in a metal sensor enclosure which is attached to the transmitter and converts the gas concentration into an electric signal. Electronics inside the transmitter changes this electrical signal for interference free transfer to the controller. The transmitter and the controller can be installed several 100 meters apart from each other.

From fermentation through to distribution, Carbon Dioxide is one of the most common hazards to health in breweries, cellars and drinks outlets.
It is also the fourth most abundant gas in atmosphere; Long term exposure to only 0.5% volume represents a toxic health hazard.
Concentration greater than 15% volume can lead to death.
CellarSafe has been specifically designed
to warn personnel of these hazards and features both long life sensors and remote warning panels (whcih can for example be installed behind a bar as well as at the entrance to the cellar).

Novel infrared measuring system for CO2
With an infrared sensor (IR sensor) specifically for carbon dioxide.
The infrared measuring system detects the carbon dioxide content of the ambient air fast and precisely. It contains a novel infrared measuring system functioning basically like a conventional two-beam photometer.
However, since material and construction of the sample cell are novel, and the measured signals are evaluated and processed according to a new digital algorithm, the infrared measuring system is light-weight, compact, in normal applications maintenance-free and long-term stable but nevertheless affordable.
The infrared measuring system detects the absolute carbon dioxide content of the ambient air (partial pressure), monitors itself constantly and signals malfunctions of its hard and software. The whole measuring range is linear.

The GMT220 transmitter series is designed for a wide range of industrial carbon dioxide applications including greenhouses, fruit storages, safety alerts and demand-controlled ventilation in mushroom farms, livestock husbandry and parking garages.
The GMT220 transmitters measure carbon dioxide in harsh and humid environments. The housing is dust and waterproof to IP65/NEMA4. The materials have been chosen for extended corrosion resistance.
The GMT220 transmitters are easy to use and install. The transmitters have a modular structure which includes a separate mounting plate for easy installation.
Interchangeable probes facilitate field maintenance. The probes can simply be replaced with newly calibrated ones, or with separate probes that are only used as a reference for calibration checking. This minimizes downtime and eliminates the need for expensive calibration equipment.

The gas measuring systems for explosive gases and vapors made by J. Dittrich Elektronic determine the concentration of explosive gases and vapors in air in an ambient temperature from -10 to +50° C.
A pellistor or semiconductor sensor detects methane (CH4), hydrogen (H2), propane (C3H8), alcohol and benzine; additional hydrocarbons on request.
The calibration is carried out with the aid of the respective test gas by means of a potentiometer; however, a certain amount of cross-sensitivity of the sensor with regard to the other substances always remains.
Low-cost infrared measuring system for methane
Since the cross-sensitivity of the sensors gives rise to problems when monitoring methane, J. Dittrich Elektronic developed a new infrared measuring system which detects specifically methane quicker, more accurately and at less cost than conventional infrared systems.
