| Lovejoy offers a variety of designs and models in its gear coupling family. From standard, off-the-shelf stock to new, high speed, special designs, Lovejoy can satisfy your gear coupling needs. The original Continuous Sleeve, or “C” coupling, offers a lightweight, compact, and simple design without compromising torque carrying capacity. The Flanged Sleeve, or “F” coupling, is available in exposed or shrouded bolt styles in which the number of bolts, size of bolts, and bolt circle are identical with industry standards. The nylon sleeve gear couplings, Nyflex and Mite, are compact, lightweight couplings that use a nylon sleeve and two sintered iron hubs. Lubrication is not required with the nylon sleeve. Lovejoy also has an All Metal Labyrinth Seal coupling and an Alloy Steel coupling. The All Metal Labyrinth Seal coupling is a flanged sleeve style, but uses no elastomeric seals. The Alloy Steel coupling is made from AISI 4140 steel. |

| The Jaw Type couplings are offered in the industry’s largest variety of stock bore/keyway combinations. These couplings require no lubrication and provide highly reliable service for light, medium, and heavy duty electrical motor and internal combustion power transmission applications. They are also fail-sale and will perform if elastomer fails, provides no metal to metal contact, resistant to oil, dirt, sand, moisture and grease. Applications include pumps, gear boxes, compressors, blowers, mixers and conveyors. The couplings are available in a variety of metal hub and insert materials. Hubs are offered in sintered metal, aluminum, bronze, steel, stainless steel, and ductile iron. Lovejoy offers four types of elastomer designs to allow for additional flexibility in addressing specific application requirements. Elastomer materials are available in Sox (NBR) rubber, Urethane, Hytrel, and Bronze. |

Precision motion control applications require mechanically tight systems, especially between motors, driven loads, and feedback devices, to ensure accurate positioning. Such systems often require shaft couplings that are both torsionally rigid, to accurately transmit rotational position and laterally flexible to accommodate shaft misalignment.
Servometer couplings exhibit both low windup due to the bellows' radial rigidity, and low side thrust due to the bellows' lateral flexibility. Other coupling types have either low windup or low side thrust, but not both.
Since the flexible element is a bellows, the coupling can absorb parallel shaft misalignments of 0.068 in., angular misalignments as large as 31°, or axial movements of 0.230 in. while transmitting torque. Servometer's stock lines of flexible shaft couplings are available with stainless steel hub bore diameters ranging from .079 in. (2 mm) to 1.0 in. (25.4 mm), and with torque capabilities ranging from 2.0 in-oz (1.4 N-cm) to 4000 in-oz (2825 N-cm). Outside diameters range from 0.250 in. (6.35 mm) to 2.40 in. (61 mm) and overall lengths from 0.480 in. (12.19 mm) to 2.16 in. (54.9 mm). Specialized dynamic requirements can be custom designed to fit customer specifications.
Some unique characteristics of Servometer bellows-type flexible shaft couplings are:
- Extremely low elastic windup
- Zero backlash
- Zero cyclic speed variation during 360° rotation
- Minimal side loading
Typical applications include:
- Encoders
- Resolvers
- Servos
- Motion control instrumentation
- Robotics
- CNC machine tools
- Precision positioning |

Cross Shaft Clamping Elements, by means of frictional forces, provide connection of all types of transmission equipment to their respective shafts, enabling transmission of both torque and axial thrust loads. Precision tapered thrust cones within the clamping elements create high pressure between shaft and hub to securely fasten pulleys, sprockets, gears etc. Stresses in both hub and shaft are similar to heavy press fits, however, the actual stresses are easy to calculate; and the hub can always be easily dismantled without damage to it or the shaft; only a torque wrench being required for both assembly and disassembly.
Precision transmission of torque with no backlash is obtained with shaft clamping elements, without the need of tight manufacturing tolerances of mating components. Simplified designs can enable manufacturing cost reductions, coupled with easy assembly and disassembly.
Cross Shaft Clamping Elements provide an alternative method of connecting hubs to shafts to:-
Tapered Bushes, Hydraulic Clamping Systems, Fine-bored Hubs, with Precision keyways & Locking Setscrews ,Heavy Press Fits & Welded Components.
The following types are available:-
RCK 15 - RCK 13 - RCK 16 - RCK 70 - RCK 71 - RCK 80 - ACE 81 - RCK 61 -
ACE 54 - CCE 55 - RCK 40 - RCK 45 - RCK 11 - RCK 50 - RCK 19 - RCK 95

| Rotation is transmitted through a central disc that slides over the tenons on the hubs under controlled preload conditions to eliminate backlash. Discs and hubs are available in different materials and configurations to suit different applications. These couplings provide generous radial compensation and easy maintenance. |

| The fin-couplings DINAL., belonging to series "GEL" are usually used for the connection of tachogenerators, encoders, contactors, motors, measuring instruments and for every application where a constant rotational velocity in the four qua-drants is required and where an absolute torque rigidity is required, even when the shafts coupling is not perfectly lined up. Projected according to DIN 740, these couplings can bear angular, radial and axial misalignments, without causing stress on the connected shafts, thanks to their peculiar construction. Their special construction and the used materials allow to use them within a tem-perature of - 30 °C + 200 °C. |
|
- very low mass inertia torque
- easy for assembly
- a small space for assembly
- balanced
- special design available on request
The size of the coupling should be selected so that the nominal torque is greater than the highest torque to be regularly transmitted. (Acceleration or load torque). The shaft misalignments must not exceed the previously mentioned values. Otherwise this will limit the working life of the coupling. |

These torsionally stiff couplings serve for the connection of two shaft ends compensating for angular and parallel misanlignment as well as axial backlash. They are used for the backlash-free and precise angular drive of:
-potentiometers / angle encoders
-resolvers / transducers
-low powered drives
The mounting of the coupling onto the shaft ends is achieved by two set screws each with one cup point per hub. In the case of a smaller than indicated size of bore, an accurate transmission or peak-torque is no longer guaranteed. Larger borings can be supplied on request. |
