Ansaldo Energia brings to the market the most advanced consolidated technology gas turbines, combining the
robustness of its standard design with its recognised ability in fulfilling customer needs with tailored solutions.
Manufacturing capabilities
The main centres of excellence at the factory are:
- The gas turbine hot blade production centre with six creepfeed grinding machines and a dedicated electric discharge machining cell with eigth plunging and two cutting machines. Two measuring units are interfaced with them for real time monitoring and correction. The center is used to machine surfaces and cooling/sealing channels on precision cast turbine rotor blades and vanes.
- The steam and compressor blade production centre with a series of stand alone NC milling machine and a flexible machining system with six 5-axis machining centres, three special 5-axis-5 spindle profile milling machines, a measuring machine, six load/unload stations and 15 buffer stations. Their numeric control are driven dynamically by the Cad/Cam system to support the large number of machines involved and the different type and size of blades to produce.

The FT8 gas turbine is based on modern aeroengine technology from Pratt & Whitney, adapted for industrial use. The gas turbine is characterised by a compact, modular design. FT8 gas turbines achieve a high level of availability and are extremely reliable.
|
|
The heavy duty machines of the THM gas turbine family are designed for a long life with a high level of reliability and availability. They are supplied as ready-assembled drive units.
Their modular design facilitates allow an easy installation and maintenance. The relatively low turbine inlet temperature guarantees a long life and extended inspection intervals. Fitting of two external Dry Low Nox combustion chambers in a V-configuration guarantees extremely low emission values.

Today's marine propulsion systems must provide faster vessel speed, enable greater payloads or deliver more power per square foot of machinery space. When vessel speed is critical and space is a premium, gas turbines can be an ideal solution.
For fast patrol boats, fast attack craft, corvettes and hovercraft as well as commercial applications such as fast ferries and mega-yachts, marine propulsion is made simple with Vericor's aero-derivative gas turbine-based power plants. Our marine propulsion offerings, ranging from 4,000 to 10,000 shp are based on the TF Series gas turbines.
Compact & Lightweight:
Our TF Series gas turbines are compact, lightweight and provide many times the horsepower over diesel engines for the same installed weight at a lower installed volume. With a cold-end drive, the gas turbine can be integrated into the package by cantilever mounting directly to the reduction gear, or mounting to a horizontal support frame and coupled to the reduction gear with a shaft and coupling.
The TF Series turbines can provide efficient power to a variety of propulsors including fixed and variable pitch propellers, waterjets and, in the case of hovercraft, air props. The small size and light weight features of the TF Series also allow for the installation of single or multiple gas turbines in combined system configurations. |
|
Greater power, higher efficiency and availability and rugged design are key issues for mechanical drive markets.
With more than 15 million hours of proven performance, the cornerstones of our VPS Series packages are the compact, rugged, and reliable ASE Series aero-derivative gas turbines. Space and weight are at a premium in some mechanical drive applications, and the VPS Series packages have the smallest footprint and highest installed power to weight ratio in their class. This means that VPS Series twin-shaft mechanical drive packages are well suited for centrifugal pump and compressor applications onshore and offshore.
Our packages are designed for reliability, efficiency and simplified installation. The proven design incorporates a simple cantilever mounting of the ASE Series gas turbine to the speed reduction gearbox. The close-coupled design of the VPS Series packages minimizes the footprint and eliminates alignment concerns between the gas turbine and gearbox. |

Turbines
|
| Turbines are the central units of shotblasting machines regarding both the function and the wear of individual composite elements which is why they are very carefully dimensioned. Turbines have concave scoops for capturing and accelerating abrasive. Special design enables minimal wasting of abrasive and at the same time maximum transfer of energy from the motor to the abrasive. Extremely wear-resistant materials and the design of scoops provide extremely long lifespan of the turbine. Specially designed elements of the turbine enable adjustments of the angle of abrasive jet coming from the turbine, which provides exact distribution of energy to the treated object and thus reduced wear and tear of the machine as a whole. |
