Magnetic-inductive flow sensor, compact and cost-effective
The cost-effectiveness of the extremely compact magnetic-inductive flow sensor VMI from SIKA means that this field-proven process technology method can now also be applied for mechanical engineering measuring procedures. The VMI functions according to the induction principle.
If an electrically conductive medium flows through the measuring tube and, therefore, at right angles to the magnetic field, a voltage will be induced in the medium. This means, the flow velocity-dependent voltage signal provides a flow-proportional frequency signal as the output signal. The measuring range of the quick-response sensor is 2…40 l/min, the process connection occurs via an external thread G˝.
The advantages of the sensor are mighty impressive:
• No moving parts, no wear
• Free pipe cross section, no additional pressure loss
• Resistant to soiled liquids
Thanks to the measuring principle, changes to the temperature, density, viscosity, concentration or electrical conductivity of the medium do not affect the output signal. The VMI can be used in areas where flow sensors with moving parts, e. g. vane sensors, cannot be applied due to soiled media. The sensor is intended for measuring flow rates or dosing liquids. The VMI is the ideal flow sensor for interference free operation combined with long service life. |

CIAO has become very popular on the market as a valid and revolutionary alternative to the usual mechanical Woltmann counters for any application in the integrated water cycle.
Valid, because it is a magnetic flow-meter realised in plastic fusion (polyurethane rubber); simple in the installation, as it is equipped with ‘metallic wrappers’; available in a wide range of diameters: from DN 20 to DN 80 mm.
Revolutionary, because it guarantees exact and stable measures thanks to the electromagnetic induction principle and unlike the normal mechanical counters which have, by their own definition, mechanical moving parts subjected to wear and tear.
The absence of internal mechanical moving parts eliminates any need of assistance and maintenance and makes it an economical instrument in the initial cost and along all its life years.
CIAO allows data transmission trough analogical and digital signals.
CIAO is installed into the process through revolutionary connections made of metallic wrappers and covered by official patent.

Fuji
Fuji PortaflowX and TimeDelta are multi-use flowmeters for liquid media. Particular advantage: The clamp-on mounting of the ultrasonic sensors, so that any cutting of the pipe is unnecessary and pressure loss can be avoided. The clamp-on measurement is available either as a portable, battery run version, or as a non-withdrawable type. The handling of the PortaflowX is very simple. The user interface of the big graphical display is compatible to the Windows system, so that even inexperienced users can handle it without problems. The PortaflowX speaks four languages fluently and can be delivered optionally with an integrated printer, that can be used either for printing parameters or as a line recorder.
The TimeDelta can convince as well by its easy handling, its enlarged options for diagnosis and analysis and its particular measurement stability, even under difficult conditions. Due to the highly efficient 32bit technology and modern DSP-technique, PortaflowX and TimeDelta can be run under operating conditions, that until now have been considered as impossible for the clamp-on ultrasonic measurement.

| Proven to have accuracy of better than ±0.10%, the Thermo Scientific M-PULSe™ multi-path ultrasonic liquid flow measurement system delivers a rapid return on investment by ensuring less lost and unaccounted for product. The system’s accuracy surpasses the API required custody transfer specification of ±0.15%, making it the most reliable flowmeter on the market today. Certified to ATEX Zone 0, the sleek stainless steel spool ranges from 4 to 16 inches in size, has no moving parts, and is intrinsically safe and spark-proof for use in the most hazardous environments. It has also proven to be independent of viscosity, is highly accurate over a wide liquid temperature range and features a non-metallic diaphragm that is well suited for corrosive applications to lower overall maintenance costs. The multi-path flowmeter works in tandem with a lightning fast flow computer to create an integrated liquid flow measurement system. The flow computer features built-in API conversion tables and compensates for temperature, pressure and density to provide unmatched repeatability and linearity. Additional system advantages include real-time flow profiling for accurate laminar, turbulent and transitional flow measurements for superior accountability and less product loss; the transducers can easily be changed while the instrument is in use, simplifying maintenance and reducing downtime; strong performance results with the flow conditioner placed just 5 pipe diameters (5D) upstream of the meter rather than the standard 10 pipe diameters (10D); and the flowmeter's compact design and shorter footprint simplify installation on offshore platforms and other areas where pipe space is at a premium. |

The Thermo Scientific SX40 flowmeter combines dedicated, dual frequency Doppler (DFD) technology with a patented digital signal processing technique to accurately determine the flow of liquids that contain particulates or air bubbles. By correlating two independent ultrasonic signals at different frequencies, it is able to automatically identify and eliminate noise errors from sources such as variable frequency drives. The SX40 incorporates clamp-on sensors which are easily installed for sludge management in sewage treatment plants and industrial applications, including slurry and effluent monitoring. Its large backlit graphics display provides excellent visibility even in poorly lit environments and it can be easily commissioned in a fraction of the time necessary to configure competitive models. Outputs include a 12-bit, optically isolated 4-20 mA analog signal and up to four independent programmable relays. It is available with a contact closure that helps to eliminate unwanted or erroneous flow volume data when backflow conditions occur. The instrument also offers a powerful 90,000 point data logger with non-volatile memory, enabling users to avoid the additional expense of a chart recorder or external data logger. |
