Techne® SB series Fluidized baths operate from ambient to 600°C, and provide a working environment that is dry, easily accessible, and free from the dangers associated with high temperature oil or salt baths. Our fluidized baths are bench standing, requiring only an electrical and air supply for operation.
Air passes through the mass of the AL2O3 particles via a porous plate in the base of the unit separating the
individual particles and suspending them in free air, providing the properties of a liquid bath. Heaters in the bath
maintain temperatures of up to 600°C. All SB Series Baths incorporate stainless steel inner containers insulated
from outer walls, and a safety air pressure switch in the event of loss of air.
Baths are controllable to within +/-1°C, making them ideal as general purpose high temperature environments for
comparison calibration, metal treatment, distillation, and other high temperature applications.
All Fluidized baths are supplied with an initial charge of
aluminum oxide fluidizing media and overspill flange.

Fluidized baths offer an open work area with the potential for a wide range of applications where a stable temperature environment is required. They use a media that never needs replacing and doesn't evaporate, are safe to operate and thus a logical choice over molten salt baths, high temperature oil baths and ovens and furnaces. Applications for Fluidized baths (a few of the many):
Verification & calibration of temperature sensors, devices and systems (Lab Series, FB08)
Shape setting of various metals including Nitinol for Medical Stents (FB08)
Cleaning of tooling (breaker plates, screws, heads, nozzle) used in plastics manufacturing (IFB series)
Tempering, annealing & Nitriding of various metals (all models)
Reactive chemical analysis including distillation (all models)
General heat treatment applications up to 600ºC/1112ºF (all models)
Thermal analysis of devices, components and materials (all models)

Modern plastic producers spend ever-increasing amounts of money on more and more complicated tooling which still has to be cleaned to maintain product quality. Techne approached this problem some years ago and now have a range of equipment designed to remove unwanted material from production hardware without damage to the part(s) being cleaned. The Fluidised Bath is a thermal process that degrades plastic residues to carbon and comes away from the bath as CO2. This fast cleaning process enable costly machinery to be put back into production with the minimum delay. Baths operate from a factory air supply or if required inert gases such as nitrogen, full range of fume treatment apparatus is available.
