Based on over 50 years of experience, Martin Christ presents a comprehensive product range covering routine applications as well as reliable equipment for individual and product specific drying processes. The newly introduced freeze dryers with LDplus- and LSC-controller set new standards for flexibility and process control. The modular accessory line allows for individual system configurations adaptable to almost every freeze-drying application. Two different drying techniques provide a solution to most lyophilisation challenges.

Pilot-scale freeze dryers with ice condenser capacities between 6 and 12 kg are specially designed for drying processes similar to large-scale production units. Prefreezing and drying will be realized on liquid temperature controlled shelves inside the separate drying chamber (double-chamber-system). Due to the temperature control of the stainless steel shelves (via a synthetic heat-transfer medium), these pilot systems fulfil the highest standards of the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. The CHRIST pilot-scale freeze dryers can be upgrated or modified to meet the individual requirements for process optimization and scale-up, e.g. with a comprehensive and flexible measurement- and control-system (e. g. lyo-resistance-control, weighing-system, process monitoring). If necessary, a decontamination with H2O2 is possible as well as an integration into isolator systems (glove-box).

Benck Top K series are standard flask dryers, some models have the option to add shelves containing a small number of vials. Manual stoppering is available with these models.
The Advantage and Advantage Plus are shelf driers, with optional stoppering, which also provide four valves to accomdate flasks, enabling excellent use of bench space. The Advantage Plus has fluid cooled shelves which brings production scale capabilites to the lab bench for the first time!

The freeze drying pilot plant RAY 1 is used in the food and beverage industries for small-scale production of market samples and for pilot testing of new products prior to full-scale production. The RAY 1 also features easy cleaning and maintenance.
The RAYTM 1 plant is also used in bacterial and pharmaceutical applications.
The pilot plant RAYTM 1 is operated via a PC control system. Parameters are monitored and stored during the freeze drying process to provide full documentation of the process. This makes it possible to repeat the test with the same freeze drying characteristics.
Modem for remote control or troubleshooting can be integrated in the PC system.
Test runs with the RAYTM 1 provide excellent data for scaling up to industrial production, either in one of the Atlas RAYTM batch freeze dryers or in a CONRADTM continuous freeze drying plant.

Hull and VirTis Benchmark systems provide large scale production and pilot batch production for Pharmaceutical applications. Systems are available with CiP, SiP and 21 CFR part 11 compliant software.
VirTis range of freeze driers extends downwards from pilot scale to laboratory sytems with all sizes in between. A range of options, shelf numbers, and software is available.

RAY™- S DESIGN
The RAY™-S cabinets are made of stainless steel throughout. Only the heating plates are made of anodized aluminum to obtain optimal heat transfer by means of radiation.
The RAY™-S cabinets are designed as cylindrical vessels with special attention to the demand for full steam sterilization (SIP) and cleaning in place (CIP).
The RAY™-S series is available in the same sizes as the RAY™ series.
GEA Niro has developed a pilot plant; the RAY™-1. Here it is possible to establish drying curves, weightless curves and temperature developments during the freeze drying process. A plant that is a must if you want to develop new freeze dried products.

Liquid line and suction line filter-driers are often referred to as System Protectors because they remove harmful elements from the circulating refrigerant before serious damage results.
Keeping the system clean and free of foreign contaminants that can restrict the operation of valves, block capillary tubes or damage compressors is the best way to assure trouble-free operation. These contaminants can be solids, such as metal filings, flux, dust and dirt. Other equally menacing contaminants are solubles, such as acid, water, resins and wax.
No matter how many precautions are taken during assembly and installation or servicing of a system, contaminants can find a way into the system. Filter-driers are designed to protect a system during operation. It is the function of this all-important unit to remove those residual elements that can attack and eventually destroy the system components.

The range of filter driers cover both hermetic filter driers and filter driers with exchangeable core.
The hermetic filter drier is delivered with various functions: standard filter drier, bi-flow filter drier, combi filter drier and burn-out filter drier.
For the filter drier with exchangeable core the program cover: standard core for CFC / HCFC, standard core for HFC, burn-out core and mechanical filter. The filter drier housing is available with 1 to 4 cores.

AKG designs and manufactures heat exchangers for refrigeration dryers for the preparation of compressed air. The heat exchangers transfer heat between a cold medium and the damp compressed air. This cools the compressed air to a pressure dew point. If required the condensation generated by the cooling process is collected in a condensation chamber integrated into the heat exchanger and continually drained off.
By means of optimum dimensioned channels for both the compressed air and the coolant we achieve optimum heat transfer with regard to low pressure difference, and high resistance to contamination.
AKG heat exchangers are used for heat transfer between compressed air and various coolants.
