Catalytic DrägerSensors
Catalytic DrägerSensors for the detection of flammable gases and vapors utilise Pellistors which are based on the catalytic effect. Different sensor versions will suit even the most demanding industrial applications.
The DrägerSensor Ex PR M (PR = poison resistant) contains pellistors, which in the presence of catalytic poisons have a longer lifetime than conventional sensors.
The DrägerSensor Ex HT M contains also PR-pellistors, but additionally is approved to be used at temperatures up to 150 °C.
The DrägerSensor Ex LC M contains PR-pellistors, which by their special encapsulation and electronic amplification are suitable to monitor very low gas concentrations. The measuring range is 0...10% LEL.

The CEDES ELS family is well-known in the market as a high-quality, inexpensive through-beam sensor.
There are various applications involving the ELS (also known as a photo cell) in which individual or dual light curtain systems are utilized. Dual light curtain systems are often installed to ensure the safety of automatic doors. The evaluation unit of a ELS system can optimally analyze one or two light beams. |

Diffuse reflective sensor with intelligent signal processing.
The sensor adapts automatically to its surroundings and suppreses signals reflected from the background (auto-calibration). The sensor suits any application where spot or field monitoring is needed. The spherical design is extremely compact and enables alignment of the sensor through all axes. |

The Model FL3111HT is a high temperature rated (125°C) ultraviolet (UV) optical flame detector designed to detect unwanted fires while maintaining false alarm immunity. The FL3111HT detects only in the UV spectral range for optimized speed of response.
The FL3111HT's electronics are integral within its stainless steel explosion-proof housing, allowing detector information to be processed at the point of detection. The electronics are fully separated from the Exe wire compartment offering protection during installation and service. |

The Model FL3100 is an Ultraviolet / Infrared flame detector designed to detect fires and provide alarm outputs directly from the detector while maintaining false alarm immunity. It detects fires by monitoring in both the ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) spectral ranges, making it highly immune to false alarms. There is also a hydrogen-specific detector available that detects hydrogen fires.
FL3100 Series flame detectors' electronics are integral within their explosion-proof housings, allowing detector information to be processed at the point of detection. The detectors also provide a 4-20mA stepped output signal indicating detector status. The COPM (Continuous Optical Path Monitoring) self-test feature checks the optical path integrity (window cleanliness) and the detectors' electronic circuitry once every minute. |

The design of this new generation of detectors provides 3 main features :
• Performances
• Guaranteed detection
• Easy installation, use and maintenance.
The efficiency of SIMTRONICS flame detectors offers :
• High sensitivity,
• Very short response time,
• Reliability,
• Immunity from interferences
It also guarantees protection against fire risks in industrial environments and enables the control of fire fighting.
The housings are treated specifically to resist corrosive factors (stainless steel or aluminium housings).
These TV63 UV / 2xIR detectors have a wide viewing angle (110°) and a range higher than 45 m.
The integrated relays and a 4-20mA output enable the control of the TV63 by the control units or by PLC.
The detectors are equipped with an automatic test control, which regularly checks the functionality of detection, as well as the optical and electronic integrity of the system.
The detector’s non-stop auto-tests & intrinsic quality feature SIL 2. |

| The Model FL4000 is an advanced multi-spectral infrared (MSIR) flame detector designed to provide superior false alarm immunity with the widest field of view. The FL4000 employs a multi-spectral optical IR sensing array with a sophisticated Neural Network Technology (NNT) system to reliably discriminate between actual flames and the vast majority of false alarm sources (such as arc welding). The FL4000 is designed to detect typical fires such as alcohol, n-heptane, gasoline, jet fuels and hydrocarbons. In addition, the FL4000 can see through dense smoke produced by diesel, rubber, plastics and lube oil fires. |

In order to undertake the process of designing a fire system for a building it is necessary to have a sound understanding of the relevant design standards, the legal framework surrounding building safety legislation and a sound working knowledge of product application theory. The importance of consultation with all relevant parties cannot be overstressed, neither can the importance of specialist advice in relevant areas. The following system design process is intended to give a reasonable overview of all the areas of knowledge required for the successful design of a fire alarm system.
It is envisaged that the user will refer to the information contained within the design section to determine the areas where further detailed advice will be required and to give guidance as to where such advice may be contained.
Due to the complex nature of legislation and design standards relating to fire alarm system design, this design guide is not intended to be a comprehensive guide to all aspects of fire alarm design but rather a very useful source of background information to which further application specific detailed information can be added from other sources as required.
The standards referred to in this section relate to the UK and Europe. Although the principles are broadly universal, it is recommended for readers in other countries that they familiarise themselves with specific local requirements from their own standards, only using the British or European standards where these have been accepted by local fire authorities. Information relating to equipment facilities and performance apply to Cooper Lighting and Security equipment and may not necessarily apply to other manufacturers equipment. The reader should carefully check whether such comments relate to equipment from other manufacturers before considering alternative equipment.
