Worm gearboxes (SG) are noted for their very quiet running. The worm-gear shaft has bearings on both sides. The gear components, made of bronze or steel, and the lubrication ensure a long service life at the rated torque. In many applications, the location of the output shaft at 90° to the motor shaft provides an optimum design solution. On request, worm-gearboxes can be supplied with a hollow output shaft.

|
Bonfiglioli worm gears are milestones for the industry worldwide. They succeeded in combining uncompromising quality with state-of-the-art technology and renown price effectiveness.
Absolute flexibility is given by the wide choice of several mounting options, shaft configurations and motor interface, all offered as standard. The helical-worm and the double-worm version, with or without the torque limiter, also add up, creating a highly versatile drive system.

Radicon worm gears can trace their origins back to the early 1900’s when David Brown fitted its first standard production unit fitted with a 'patent' worm gear. The name Radicon comes from the three principles of heat dissipation used in the basic design - RADiation Induction CONvection.

The patented “BOX” series is made with aluminium housing from size 25 up to 90.
The housing has been designed with parametric CAD SW supported by programs of analysis of the thermal dissipation capacity and the structural resistance/deformation under the effect of working loads.
The wormshaft is made in case hardened steel and ground machined, while the worm wheel is in shell cast bronze. Before being assembled, the worm wheel is submitted to a running-in working period to improve the surface finishing and hardness.
From type 63 and up, 2 taper roller bearings are mounted on the wormshaft.
The combination of this characteristic and 2 nilos permits the mounting of the whole BOX range, from the size 25 to the size 110, in the positions V5 and V6 without any need of additional interventions
The gear unit is equipped with a full set of filler, level and breather plugs, permitting all mounting positions and facilitating the management of the stock.
The sizes 25 up to 90 are supplied with long-life synthetic oil and they don’t require any maintenance
Mating surfaces are machined for a perfect planarity
A paint coat cancels the negative effects of the aluminium porosity and protects the housing from oxidation
