Tranter HES Spiral Heat Exchangers are utilized for a wide variety of industry applications, especially for process industries. As a result of the flexibility of the custom-made tailored design, they can be used as heaters, coolers, interchangers, condensers and evaporators.
Spiral heat exchangers are ideally suited for handling “difficult” fluids, such as sludges, slurries, heavyfouling, viscous and/or particle-laden liquids, but also where fluids have to condense or evaporate at low pressure drops. Each spiral heat exchanger is a custom-made product and can be made from any cold-workable and weldable material.
Spiral Heat Exchanger capabilities:
from to
Channel spacings 5 mm 70 mm
Channel width 50 mm 2000 mm
Surface per unit 0.1 m² 800 m²
Coil thickness 2 mm 8 mm
Design pressure Vacuum 60 bar
Design temperature -100 °C 450 °C
The concept of a spiral heat exchanger is as simple as it is sophisticated. Two or four long metal strips, onto which spacer studs are welded, are wound around a core, thus creating two or four equally spaced single-passage channels. The concentric shape of the flow-passages and the studs create turbulence already at low Reynolds numbers. By optimizing the flow pattern heat transfer is enhanced, whilst fouling is reduced. This results in a compact and space-saving construction that can be readily integrated in any plant and reduces installation costs.

|
Spiral tube heat exchangers provide high efficiency in a small profile for high pressure and severe service applications. The heat exchanger consists of dual manifold multi-tube spiral assembly inserted into the shell, where two fluid paths are created for full counterflow heat transfer. Standard tube bundle assemblies are stainless steel with welded tube to manifold joints.
Up to 40% more efficient than a shell and tube
Pressure ratings exceeding 10,000 psig (690 barg)
Compact and lightweight
Highly resistant to thermal and pressure shock
Least expensive construction for exotic materials

Bowman is one of the UK's largest manufacturers of Swimming Pool Heat Exchangers.
There are two ranges of Bowman Swimming Pool Heat Exchangers, one for use with Boilers and the other for use with Solar Panels.
Our Heat Exchangers can also be used with Heat Pump Installations. (Please contact our Sales Department on +44 (0)121 359 5401 for more information).
Swimming Pool Heat Exchangers provide a simple method of heating swimming pool water indirectly from a boiler or solar panels.
All Bowman Swimming Pool Heat Exchangers are manufactured with corrosion-resistant cupro-nickel tubes and corrosion resistant end covers and are therefore suitable for use with chlorine water, seawater and spa pools. Bowman heat exchangers will normally well outlast stainless steel units.
The heat exchanger can be mounted horizontally or vertically.
Units suitable for use with pools with heating up to 145 kW or 500,000 BTU/h are supplied with mounting brackets as standard.
Bowman units are very easy to maintain, as both the end covers and tube stack can be removed for cleaning, this is unique to our design (4111-2 excluded).
Our Swimming Pool Heat exchangers can also be used to cool swimming pool water in hot climates. Water from a chiller passes over the heat exchanger tubes instead of boiler or solar panel water which is used when heating swimming pools.
Please contact us if you require further information about using our heat exchangers for cooling pools.

The compact Maxchanger unit transfers heat in much the same way as the gasketed plate and frame heat exchanger, but does so without gaskets. This ensures greater compactness than a gasketed plate exchanger, and requires only 30-50% of space required for a shell and tube heat exchanger.
Extremely high "U" values and low pressure drops are a result of the unique geometry of its interspaces. The specially embossed dimples on each plate provide maximum pressure-resistant heat transfer contact points. This design allows the Maxchanger to be capable of running under high temperature/ high pressure applications.
Specially dimpled plates are rotated and welded completely together between end plates, and in alternate channels at the inlet / outlet ends and connections. This thoroughly seals the entire unit to prevent leaking or cross-contamination of hot and cold media.
Counter-current flow of fluids is achieved in all Maxchanger designs, providing a close temperature approach capability of less than 1C.
Channels formed between the welded plates and end connections direct the two heat transfer media counter-currently through alternate paths for immediate thermal response and maximum efficiency.

Our core products are fully welded heat exchangers in the Shell & Plate design, manufactured with laser welding technology.
The round design prevents too high pressure and thermal stress. The gasket-free design also allows it to be used for aggressive media.
State-of-the-art laser welding technology results in the highest weld quality and weld resistance.
The results are efficient units with long lifetimes, for trouble-free operation also under changing operating conditions.
GESMEX heat exchangers ensure reliability of operation in plants where this is essential.

A revolutionary type of plate heat exchanger constructed of 316 stainless steel plates brazed together to eliminate gaskets, heavy frames, weight, and bulk. The HoneycombTM (Model BP) design is an "Off-the-shelf" corrugated plate design for quick delivery. Design pressures to 435 PSIG and temperatures to 437°F. Flow rates to 190 GPM
|
|
|
The basic concept for a brazed plate heat exchanger (BPHE) is the use of stainless steel plates (AISI 316L), permanently brazed together with pure copper (99,9% Cu). These plates are then stacked together, alternative rotated of 180°, forming separate flow chambers where two medias exchange heat.

Gasketed plate apparatuses are heat exchangers with a modular design which are very flexible and can be easily adjusted. They are commonly used in commerce and industry. Corrugated plates are selected from the types / sizes available depending on the medium to be heated or cooled, where the medium's physical characteristics are of particular importance. The plates are then "assembled" into customised heat exchangers. Software is used to assist in the selection of type and size and greatly simplifies the listing of alternatives. Thermowave does however always use software developed in house to configure the apparatuses so that the latest advances in technology can be rapidly implemented. The ultimate goal here is to use our expertise and detailed knowledge to respond to requests from our customers and other interested parties, to allow in-house "know-how" to be assimilated and to make the software distinctive.
The usage limits of plate heat exchangers are often determined by the resistance of the plate and gasket material to the media in question. The 'database of practical knowledge' available within the company is indispensable at this point as is a fully functioning configuration programme.

OF fixed tube sheets having straight tubes of 5/8" and 3/4" O.D. are excellent where the heavy fouling fluids are inside tubes and light fouling fluids in the shell. An expansion joint must be used when wide temperature differences exist or abrupt temperature changes occur between tube and shell side fluids.

New Design Lowers Cost: A new, patented design, developed by JLS and Samhwa and proven on customer polyester lines worldwide, substantially reduces vessel weight, and therefore cost. It does this by passing the product through coiled tubes that surround mixing elements (see photo below right). This arrangement provides the same benefits as traditional designs, but requires much less flange and wall thickness for a given pressure.

At the end of the manufacturing process, bulk materials need to be cooled. To counteract potential overheating, Coperion Waeschle has developed the BULK-X-CHANGE® bulk materials heat exchanger, a product outstanding for its particularly good heat transfer and optimum efficiency.
The BULK-X-CHANGE® is equipped with a special tube-sheet which ensures that the product is fed in with no residues. Due to its compact design the bulk materials heat exchanger can be integrated into the plant without requiring too much space. It can be used both to cool down and to heat up free-flowing to slightly cohesive bulk materials.
|
|
|
The heat exchangers PICKER are manufactured with following building materials, according to families of exchangers. This list is not exhaustive, to refer in the overall plans of the apparatuses to know the possible material combinations for a given family of exchangers. The choice of such or such material is mainly dictated by nature, the temperature and the conditions of circulation of the fluids in the exchangers.

The wtg-system - Heat exchangers
U-, bare and finned tube heat exchangers for virtually all applications, also in high-grade steel, can be supplied by HTT.
The wtg-system comprises various types of heat exchangers with up to approx. 100 m² surface. Acceptance certificates according to almost all classification societies.
The thermal- and fluid-dynamical calculations for the design of the heat exchangers are performed with a powerful software. This software includes temperature-dependent thermal-dynamic properties of nearly all heat transfer media.
|
|
|
The heat exchangers PICKER are protected outside from corrosion by means of a reactive primary painting from colour yellow-green. This painting, only intended to ensure the adherence of the later layers (intermediate and/or of completion), is compatible with the majority of the paintings used in industry.

The special hygiene requirements and stringent usage and environmental conditions applicable in the foodstuffs industry place greater demands on the design of and materials selected for a plate heat exchanger. The apparatus should be suitable for the company's own product but also resistant to the same extent to the various cleaning media used. The heat exchangers are often installed in damp environments and must not rust even if the room in which they are used is cleaned using fluids. They must also have a similar high-quality finish to the other machines in the room in which they are installed. Special, rapid release connections are selected as the connection variants (e.g. so-called "dairy pipe screw joints") so that all plate apparatuses can be used flexibly within their output limits. The special needs of the foodstuff in question are also taken into consideration when choosing the heat exchanger plate types and gaskets, since the fluids should of course pass the plate heat exchanger without taste, smell or colour being affected.
One decisive benefit of the ThermoLine's F series is its flexibility. Depending on application, all available plate sizes, types and materials can also be fitted in the F series apparatuses. The option of using laser welded modules greatly increases the possible usages of ThermoLine apparatuses in foodstuff applications. National and international requirements of foodstuff apparatus engineering are taken into account in the selection of plates and gaskets.
