Char-Lynn motors are extremely reliable, compact, and have tremendous power density. They provide a way to meet many needs for cost-effective power transmission requirements. Multiple motors can be driven by a single power source (pump) and controlled using a wide array of valves and variable displacement pump controls. Motors can even be configured with electronic sensors to provide digital feedback for sensing both motor direction and output speed.
The Char-Lynn motor range consists of three major types based on the type of valving used to distribute fluid through the Orbit gear set (geroler or gerotor). These three types are:
- Spool Valve
- Disc Valve
- VIS (Valve-in-Star)
Migration from one valve technology to the next enhances motor performance in terms of efficiency, pressure rating, displacements, and motor output torque capability.
To help guide you to proper product selection, a quick guide is provided below. In addition, you will find product highlights, summaries of motor option features and benefits, application formulas, and detailed specifications for each motor family.

The new "G" Series of Radial Piston Hydraulic motors has been developed to offer, contrary to the past, a multipurpose product; as a matter of fact, our standard motors were regarded as "low speed motors".
"G" motors can be classed as:
HIGH SPEED RADIAL PISTON MOTORS
As these are radial piston motors, they keep their operating features:
a high starting torque along with a high stability during the torque transmission.
It is worth bearing in mind that, as compared to other motors, the "G" motor, thanks to the great number of pistons, as a very high overall performance, even at low rpm.

GM series motors are a result of the many years' of experience gained with the preceding M, L and P series motors, and incorporate a number of design variations with respect to these series intended to increase the strength of the motor casings and the load capacity of the internal dynamic components. The result is a series of motors with high continuous power ratings, both because of the reduced internal specific loads and because of the high mechanical and volumetric efficiency that contribute in reducing the amount of heat produced and therefore also the negative effects associated with it.
Radial injection cylinder feed (1) eliminates direct hydraulic axial loading of the motor casing.
Larger cylinder feed channels (1) for reduced power loss with high flows.
Stronger castings (2) and internal reinforcement ribbing: increased casing strength and stiffness for higher internal and external load capacity.
High load capacity bearings (3) for applications requiring high lifetime, high power/pressure, high external loads.
Larger cylinder trunnions (4) for increased strength and stiffness and reduced specific loads.
Cylinder trunnions with hydraulic balancing (5) to reduce friction, wearing and heat generation, enabling operation with higher powers and improved efficiency.
Compatibility with shafts (6), adaptors, distributors of the motors of other preceding series.
Standardisation of components for increased modularity and flexibility as regards interchangeability of displacements, spare parts and options.
Reduced number of components for a more simple and reliable design.
Compatibility with non-polluting oils.

Dual displacement is achieved by a variation of theshaft eccentric cam. The displacement controlsystem is based on a hydraulic device, whichactuates a hydraulic control valve mechanism toselect minimum or maximum displacement. Thedual displacement mode allows the motor toreduce the displacement down to the 10% of themaximum, hence making the speed ten time higher

Based on BD1 series motor uses standard
components of well-proven BD1 series for
greater reliability.
Displacement variation range:
-from 100% to 25% of max. displ.
-from 90% to 15% of max. Displ.
-from 75% to 0% of max. displ.
Variable shaft eccentricity: simple, electrohydraulic
system ensures displacement
stability and reliability.

All over the world, Staffa motors are used on: plastic injection moulding machines (extruder screw drives), mining machinery (swing, track, wheel, bucket, and cutterhead drives), earthmoving and construction equipment (wheel, track, swing and implement drives), marine machinery (winch and steering mechanisms), and forestry machines (swing and cutterhead drives) as well as many others.
Staffa motors are offered in models that include single displacement, dual displacement and continuously variable forms supplemented by integral gearboxes, brakes, and standard valve packages.
Staffa motors offer consistent, controlled acceleration of loads and smooth, steady, low speed operation. Moving parts are immersed in hydraulic fluid, so Staffa motors do not require periodic lubrication.
They also save money by increasing usable drive power and reducing drive train maintenance.

Axial piston units are available in the form of pumps and motors in bent axis design or swashplate design for medium- and high-pressure ranges. They are the main components in the hydrostatic transmission. Compact size and high power density, economy and reliability are characteristic advantages which speak for the use of hydrostatic transmissions, together with the fact that they meet the demand for high speed and high torque, as well as optimum efficiency.

Series F12 is the high performance bent axis, fixed displacement heavy-duty motor/pump series. They can be used in numerous applications in both open and closed loop circuits.
* F12 motors can be used at unusually high shaft speeds
* Operating pressures up to 480 bar provides for the high output power capability
* The 40° angle between shaft and cylinder barrel allows for a very compact, lightweight motor and pump
* The laminated piston ring provides low internal leakage and thermal shock resistance
* Pump versions have highly engineered valve plates for increased selfpriming speed and low noise
* The F12 series have very few moving parts, making them very reliable motors/pumps

Pump : 10 different sizes on this product so that you can select the pump rated to precisely match your design requirements, no need to buy a pump that is too big, too costly or overrated for your applications. By acquiring this pump, you’ll be able to improve the performance control.
Oilgear has been an industry leader in the use of infinite life sleeve bearings that run on a wet film. Pressure lubrication to these bearings assures smooth control performance with better compensating stability, reliability and repeatability. A special hardening process is also applied to the control bores, which means you can maximize the cycling capabilities and double or triple the life expectancy of the control.
Moreover this pump is very quiet: less than 80 dBa at all pressures. But the most important value is that these pumps are manufactured by Oilgear, a world class company reknowned for high quality products.

The MCR radial piston motors are slowly running hydraulic motors which operate according to the multiple-stroke principle.
The relationship between roll diameter and cam profile is optimized inside the central power unit. This results in the best possible balance of forces between piston and cam path and simultaneously extends the service life. The step-piston power unit or high-displacement power unit yields a very compact drive unit with high power density.
MCR motors can be used both in open as well as in closed circuits.
