The FHA-C series digital AC hollow-shaft servo actuator, combining precision Harmonic Drive gearing with highly dynamic AC servo motors, offer unique features unsurpassed by conventionally geared drives. Used in highly demanding industrial servo systems they provide precision motion control and high torque capacity in a very compact package. A HIPERFACE® or Siemens compatible encoder with sinusoidal output signals provides feedback information for the FHA Series Actuator with Sine/Cosine Encoder. The actuator is compatible with a wide variety of currently available digital servo drives for Sin/Cos motor feedback systems, e.g. Simodrive 611D/611U, SIMOVERT-MASTERDRIVES or NUM MDLU. Matching SC-610 digital servo control units, which can be used for current, speed or position control are also available.

Rotary Systems designs and manufactures a line of standard and custom over-the-shaft rotary unions.
The rotary union shown is constructed from carbon steel and utilizes a precision ground shaft, radial ball bearings and Teflon seals. This is a two passage rotary union with .25" NPT passages with a four inch bore through the shaft. This union was designed specifically for a high pressure hydraulic indexing application.
Our standard over-the-shaft line of rotary unions can be viewed on our website by clicking on the 011 series. Our standard unions are offered in two and four passages with a .5", 1.5” or 2.0” bore through the shaft. The bore through the shaft is independent from the union. Some customers will pass a shaft or electrical wires through this bore.

Rod Lock Cylinders
* The Bimba Original Line Rod Lock Cylinder is a normally clamped unit that holds the piston rod in position when air pressure is not present. It is ideal for preventing drift at machine shut-down.
* The rod lock air cylinder has dowel pins that ride in the cam groove. When air pressure is present, piston actuates and dowel pins follow cam to open position, allowing piston rod to travel freely through clamp. In the absence of pressure, the spring actuates the piston and dowels follow to closed position, activating the rod clamp.
* The Rod Lock is not a safety device. It cannot be used for intermediate stopping; the cylinder is designed to prevent drift from a stationary position.
* Load weight must not exceed the stated holding force for the cylinder.
* Bore sizes are 3/4", 1-1/16", 1-1/2 ", and 2". |

| Safety Locks similar to Safety Catchers and Safety Brakes are used against failure of lifting members. But in contrast to those they are not suitable to decelerate masses or to dissipate kinetic energy. On the other hand, the rod displacement to build up the holding force is very small, so that this units can be used for a approximitive positioning tasks as well. Furthermore this design principle allows compact solutions even for small rod sizes (smaller than for Safety Catchers). In the field of pneumatic clamping devices the Safety Locks are providing the absolutely highest holding forces in relation to housing dimensions. |
