The Industrial Automation Group of Advantech introduces two new ADAM analog input modules, the ADAM-5017P and ADAM-5018P. The ADAM-5017P has eight different independent configuration channels, supports power reverse, and also has a wide uni-polar or bi-polar input range. The ADAM-5018P is a Thermocouple Input Module which supports seven input ranges and types (J,K,T,E,R,S,B), and will filter functions to remove any unreasonable range.
Both will support the High Common Mode function, which means channel-to-channel differential voltages can be up to 200 VDC. Now even more measurements, such as battery or power transducer/transmitter measurements can be achieved with this new design. Furthermore, they have over-voltage protection to avoid ranges ±60 VDC that protects the modules from power surges. Also, there is built-in TVS/ESD protection to protect the high-density, miniaturization, and complex equipment. TVS diodes avoid ESD and protect the electronic components. The ADAM-5017P and ADAM-5018P are both ADAM-5550 series expansion modules which are supported by the ADAM.Net Utility.
In the Facility and Machine Automation market, these modules can withstand harsh requirements and provide ideal and cost-effective options. Really independent I/O modules with embedded microprocessor
Sigmadue is a system of standalone remote I/O modules designed by Ascon for fieldbus applications, in other words, fully distributed automation. No back planes nor common modules are necessary, also, wiring can be directly connected to the modules thus eliminating termination units. I/O modules have a lot of built-in intelligence. Embedded microprocessors allow them to scale data, linearise them, do signal conditioning, perform diagnostics and take care of alarms. These I/O modules can unburden the PLC memory. Valuable PLC memory can be dedicated only to the digital processing, thereby improving the PLC’s scan times. PLC processor can be downsized. The modules use CANbus or Modbus as bus, and are easily networked together. There are numerous CANbased or Modbus intelligent devices that can be networked together with the modules and brought into the system: PCs, PLCs, motor drives, valves, transmitters for pressures, temperatures. CANbus has the advantage in that the modules can be separated at great lengths from one another; so the I/O system can span large distances. Network adaptors will connect an entire Sigmadue system into Profibus or Ethernet. Ascon can also offer SigmaPAC, the programmable automation controller designed to be the host controller for the Sigmadue system of I/O and suitable to obtain completely open and configurable distributed automation systems.

With the IS1 R. STAHL present the second generation of Remote I/O Systems with intrinsically safe inputs and outputs.
IS1 is extremely simple to use: A CPU & Power Module and several input/output modules are snapped on to the BusRail (35 mm DIN rail). The unique PowerBus power supply concept, developed especially for use in hazardous areas, makes system planning as simple as for normal industrial I/O systems.
IS1 is particularly flexible: It can be used for small and large signal quantities with the possibility of installing field stations in Zone 1 / Division 1 or Zone 2 / Division 2. Installation in control rooms is also possible. An intrinsically safe fieldbus using copper-wire or fibre-optic technology connects field stations in Zone 1 with the automation devices.
IS1 is extremely economical: Modules with 8 or 16 inputs lower the price per signal. The optional ServiceBus in connection with the "I.S. Wizard" software or a HART-Management System cuts down the time for commissioning, trouble shooting and maintenance.
The new I/O modules for Zone 2 applications can be mixed with the Zone 1 modules on the same BusRail. With this it is possible to design very cost effective field stations. IS1 is now available with Industrial Ethernet / Modbus TCP interface.

The ADPLC interfaces are a series of small instruments with microprocessor electronic for direct reading of any analog input using only two digital I/O lines, whatever PLC you have.
How to use ADPLC
The use of the ADPLC 'interface requires only a simple program made by the user for it's own PLC.
Interfacing for reading a single analog signal, the Programmable Logic Controller must output 16 clock pulses (CLOCK ADPLC input) at which the interface replies with 16 data bits (SDATA ADPLC output) that represent the direct reading of the analog signal.
For the simultaneous reading of two analog signals, 16 more clock pulses are required.
The ENABLE PLC input allows more devices to be interfaced in parallel mode.
Each model can be interfaced also to PLC's with relay outputs: in this case the interface itself provides the syncronization clock output.
Why ADPLC?
ADPLC is the only instrument on the market that can read an analog signal directly with one PLC digital input and ouput, without any analog interface on the PLC. So it is very profitable for little PLC's or when the analog inputs are remote.

The Industrial Automation Group of Advantech introduces the ADAM-5081, a high speed quadrature encoder and counter module for use with the ADAM-5550 series Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs). The ADAM-5081 has a high isolation of 2,500 VDC, a high speed frequency mode (5 Hz ~ 1 MHz), and a counter code at 1 MHz. There’s also an advanced digital filter to eliminate noise and interference (1 ~ 65000ì sec) which ensures accurate data collection and transmission.
The ADAM-5081 features four counter modes (up/down, bi-directional, up and A/B phase modes), which counts precise data units in minute detail. The frequency mode of the ADAM-5081 supports up to eight channels and can control a wider range of electromagnetic wave status under certain conditions.
The ADAM-5081 supports four digital output channels, which can be triggered by a preset counter value, and can watch the position encoder of the machine while doing the position comparing. Once the preset value is reached, the system requires a digital output signal to trigger the camera. With built-in DO channels already in the ADAM-5081, the respond speed is maximized.
For applications requiring high speed data collection with high accuracy, such as facility automation and machine automation, and the ability to withstand harsh environments, the ADAM-5081 module is the optimum choice.
