I/O modules for field applications
The ifm field modules are available in different versions for different applications. The ProcessLine for food and process automation with the protection rating IP69K, the CompactLine for robust applications and the ClassicLine for standard applications, both in IP67. Illuminated pushbutton modules complement the product range.

| AS-Interface networks up to 62 field devices onto a single pair of wires that delivers both signal and power. Actuator Sensor Interface, or AS-Interface, was developed by a group of sensor manufacturers and introduced into the market in 1994. Since that time, it has become the de facto standard for discrete sensors in process industries throughout the world. AS-Interface may be used in hazardous process environments using explosion proof, tray cable, nonincendive and for nonincendive wiring protection concepts. |

The solution Interface-HAVE is an alternative to the parallel beams of cables. It is the only system which can transfer the data and energy by means of one only cable with 2 drivers coded with protection against the inversion from polarity. The connection of the detectors and the actuateurs is carried out by the technique of perforation of the insulation.

In industrial processes where liquids, air or gases are used valves serve for dosing and control. There is a wide variety of valve types, butterfly or ball valves being the most common quarter-turn types.
In large plants these valves are seldom operated manually. Mechanical actuation is normally done by separate actuators. The valve position must be monitored electronically. This is necessary to give feedback to the controller when a certain position (e.g. "open" or "closed") is reached and to monitor the valves centrally from a control room.
Mechanical switches are still often used for position feedback on the actuator shaft. For other solutions several proximity switches are used together with a switching target for position detection. Disadvantage of these solutions: Mounting is mechanically complex. During switch mounting the signal wires can be reversed when they are connected in the top-mounted junction box. Where there are temperature fluctuations condensing humidity leads to corrosion and thus malfunction. |

In all automated processes the use of sensors to provide information for the plc is of prime importance. Sensors supply the necessary signals on positions, end stops, levels or serve as pulse transmitters for counting jobs or for monitoring rotational speed. In industrial usage inductive and capacitive proximity switches are indispensable. As compared to mechanical switches they offer almost ideal conditions: non-contact, maintenance-free operation, high switching frequencies and switching accuracies as well as high protection against vibration, dust and humidity.
Inductive sensors detect all metals without contact, capacitive sensors detect nearly all solid and liquid media such as metal, glass, wood, plastic, water, oil, etc...
Both inductive and capacitive proximity switches are available in NAMUR versions. In conjunction with an NV0100/NV0200 amplifier the sensors can be used in zone 1 hazardous areas (the amplifier which contains Zener barriers as well as power supply and output must be mounted outside the hazardous area). |

Cable glands System UNI Dicht
– boundlessly applicable
The PFLITSCH System UNI® Dicht - is the modern cable gland program for a widely varying range of applications in electrical technology and electronics, machine and plant engineering, installation, traffic and chemical technology.
Gland bodies of various metals and plastics can be combined with sealing inserts of various materials, and therefore adapted precisely to cable diameters and conditions of use.
With UNI Multi several cables can be guided through a perfectly sealed connection. In addition, with UNI Dicht hose cable glandsconnections, cables can also be protected externally in special hoses. e.g. for corrugated pipes or hoses.
Pflitsch contributed actively to drawing up the European standard EN 50262 and continues to set standards through innovations.
Certificates: UL/CSA, VDE, PTB etc. |

The RF identification system for production control.
- DTS125: Industrially compatible identification system in 125 kHz technology.
- Coding of workpiece carriers in routing conveyors.
- Quick and easy set-up: Plug and play.
- Read/write head requiring little space due to narrow design.
- Compact and at a low cost: Antenna and evaluation in one housing.
Innovation in production control
The constant increase of the degree of automation in modern production plants is increasingly supported by identification systems. Their tasks include for example the control or release of production steps or the assignment of information about each product. |

Air boxes
The AS-i AirBoxes are compact pneumatic valves, complemented by digital feedback inputs. They are integrated in a ClassicLine housing and are compatible in terms of space and mounting. The AS-i connection is carried out via the common flat cable or round cable lower parts. 3/2-way and 4/2-way valves are available. |
