Jacobsen's impact wheel marker is an add-on module for positively marking defective wheels.
The impact marker physically deforms defective wheels, ensuring that they cannot be accidentally mistaken for good ones.
The wheel marker is standalone, turn-key module that can be added to any process in a wheel foundry. It can be installed in-line anywhere where defective wheels are removed from the process.
Jacobsen's impact wheel marker positively identifies defective wheels by visibly denting the rim. A wheel that has been dented is both visually and functionally defective, and cannot be accidentally used as good.
The marker is a complete turnkey unit, requiring only power, trigger and compressed air inputs. The marker uses a special pneumatic/hydraulic cylinder that generates high pressures without the need for hydraulics.
The marker will work for wheels from 12" to 22" in diameter and from 4" to 12" in width.

Using the impact indenting method, the entire message is indented at one time using an impact press with a press-style die, holder and changeable type or numbering head. The force to indent the product is produced by a compression spring in the impact press. The machine and tooling selected is determined by the size of the inscription and the resistance (hardness) of the material.
Matthews impact presses are available in six models for manual or pneumatic operation with an indenting force ranging from 1/2 ton to 10 tons. Production rates are limited by the speed of loading and unloading the press.
Press indenting is useful for marking on products which require long production runs, precise mark registration and controlled marking. Indenting can be achieved as part of the production process or as a separate operation.
