The Imaging Source - a multi-national manufacturer of industrial cameras - has just brought to market a new series of progressive scan, CMOS cameras, which ship with a USB 2.0 connector. The series of 12 different cameras includes color and monochrome models, with resolutions from 640x480 to 2048x1536. MARLIN – The multi-featured camera family

Camera Link is a manufacturer spanning standardized interface for the digital data transfer between camera and frame grabber. Due to high transmission bandwidth Camera Link is predestined for image processing tasks. Further advantages of Camera Link are easy integration and low priced cable concepts. The Kappa 12 Bit digital cameras with CameraLink interface are equipped with Camera Link interface and work according to the base configuration. The camera series is based on variable camera electronics, low power consumption, advanced circuitry, and an extremely rugged design with an excellent signal quality at the same time. The user can choose between color or black-and-white systems, high-quality CCD sensors by Sony and Kodak with megapixel resolution and various interfaces (FireWire/IIDC compatible, CameraLink, GigE).
Kappa CameraLink cameras offer bit rates from 1.5 GBit/s up to 2.7 GBit/s. Camera Link is a registered trademark of the Automated Imaging Association (AIA). New for version 1.2: „Power over CameraLink“. Image information is transmitted parallel to power. A CL frame grabber is always required. For each CameraLink camera a specific configuration file is required. CameraLink also provides RS232 data.

The camera series is based on variable camera electronics, low power consumption, advanced circuitry, and an extremely rugged design with an excellent signal quality at the same time. Bus standard IEEE1394 “FireWire”. DCAM stands for „1394-based Digital Camera Specification“. IIDC compability: FireWire cameras use the DCAM protocol which is a standard defined by the organization „Instrumentation & Industrial Digital Camera“. The cable lengths reach up to 20 m. Firewire-IEEE 1394a is supported by all operating systems. Peer-to-peer communication is possible. The bus system is bidirectional (sending and receiving data at the same time). The integrated power supply for FireWire cameras is 8 to 33 VDC, 1.5 A, max. 48 W. The bit rate is 400 Mbit/s for 1394a and 800 Mbit/s for 1394b. Addressing is automatically (no jumper settings). Kappa FireWire cameras (400 megabit/ 2 ports) are experts in the area of image acquisition. Progressive scan CCD, true color quality, megapixel resolution, excellent image quality, 12 bit digitization depth and user-friendly software environment characterize the FireWire cameras from Kappa. The customer can choose between 2/3, 1/1.8 and 1/2” CCD sensors, color or monochrome. The brilliant high fidelity color reproduction is achieved by the camera-internal Kappa color processing in real-time. With the standard FireWire interface, C-mount and the camera control software KCC you get a fully-equipped complete system for ready-to-use operation with computer and microscope. DVLC Digital Color Camera
This camera incorporates a trilinear CCD sensor - one separate row of pixels for each color on a single sensor - thereby removing the need for an expensive 3-sensor and beamsplitter system. Built-in spatial correction ensures optimal RGB signals synchronization for excellent color image quality. The DVLC camera accomodates Nikon F lenses. The standard Camera Link interface makes integration easy into existing systems and increases flexibility when it comes to connecting to various grabbers or changing cameras.
