Quick and easy detection of air leaks
The SKF TMSU 1 is a high quality, user friendly, sensitive instrument enabling the detection of air leaks by means of ultrasound. Leaks are caused by fluid flowing from a high pressure environment to a low pressure environment, creating turbulence. The turbulence generates high frequency sounds (so called ultrasound) that can be detected by TMSU 1. The sensitive piezoelectric crystal in the sensor allows the operator to quickly guide the instrument to the loudest point which helps locate the leak location.
TMSU 1 includes an ultrasonic detector, headset, rubber nozzle and batteries, all supplied complete in a sturdy carrying case.
- Lightweight compact design makes it easy to operate with one hand
-User friendly and easy to operate, no special training required
-Highly reliable, helps identify exact position of the leak
-Valuable instrument for enhancing machinery sustainability. By identifying air leaks and fixing them, energy consumption is significantly reduced
-Sensor mounted on a flexible tube helps enable reach in restricted areas
-Excellent quality headset for optimum sound quality even in very high-noise environments, also act as ear defenders
-Wide operating temperature suitable for diverse industrial environments

SDT FLEX.US
LEAK DETECTION IS SERIOUS BUSINESS THAT REQUIRES SERIOUS TOOLS.
Compressed air leaks account for between 30 and 40% of the total air demand in a factory. Finding and fixing leaks is the best opportunity we have for both energy and operating cost reduction.
Detecting pneumatic leaks in vehicle brake systems is a high priority measure that ensures safer vehicles on our roadways.
To verify the tightness of any volume (vehicles, aircraft, clean rooms, building envelope, nuclear containment walls, etc) you need the reliability and precision of the ultrasonic testing method.
FLEX.US maintains the turbulent sound quality of a leak as it converts the ultrasonic noise to a sound humans can hear (hissing sound). Some instruments simply produce electronic signals (beeping) in the headset. These false signals do not distinguish a leak sound from other phenomena and make leak detection all but impossible.
Mounted on the end of a flexible steel pipe, the ultrasonic sensor can access any hard-to-reach location. To ensure comfort, the volume control is quickly adjusted when very loud ultrasounds are encountered. This sensitivity provides a high level of precision making leak detection a pleasure, not a chore.

The SONAPHONE-ultrasonic detectors of SONOTEC can dramatically reduce your energy and maintenance costs. They are designed to identify leaks and locate even the smallest leakages through detecting ultrasound produced by escaping air or gas from compressed air and vacuum systems quickly, reliably und economically. The SONAPHONE devices are simple to use and highly sensitive.
These ultrasonic instruments are very beneficial when used in conjunction with a surface contact probe to monitor ultrasound being generated from worn or dry bearings in rotating machinery. This early warning of potential bearing failure is vital in a planned approach to predictive maintenance, leading also to a reduction of costs. The regular control of engines, pumps and gearings with the SONAPHONE devices leads to more safety within operations and guaranties a high machine availability.
The option of an additional ultrasonic transmitter allows the control of the leak tightness of windows, doors, cabins, vehicles and devices without much effort.
A range of probes is available to either scan large industrial areas for leaks or pinpoint a leak in a specific valve or fitting. The parabolic probe can accurately detect leaks over 20 metres away with the aid of the integrated red dot rifle sight.
Intrinsically Safe and Data Logging models for a quick data transfer between detector and computer via USB interface are also available.

Minisonic ISD detects the changes of products in a pipeline by measuring the speed of sound. The speed of sound is a precise specification of the product and has a correlation to density or concentration.
Minisonic ISD is also a detector of the passage of pigs and spheres in a pipeline by the analysis of the acoustic signal.
The measurement of the speed of sound depends on the temperature and pressure conditions, so it is necessary to use a numeric corrector to obtain the real measurements.
The Minisonic ISD is available in a standard or explosion proof model.

Ultrasonic system SDT 170 MTT
Tightness control of underground tanks and associated pipe work
Widely recognized and approved method. The SDT TankTEST method by introducing a vacuum and listening to the ultrasounds is the most reliable, most cost-effective, most rapid, most simple, most comprehensive and the most accurate.
With SDT's Graphs & Measurements software for the automatic creation of authenticated reports. All data and test measurements are stored in the detector. They can be transferred to a PC. They provide evidence of testing, measurement readings and graphics
and archiving of the performances.
Control principle
- The use of ultrasonic frequencies means a far higher level of sensitivity than is possible with audible sound.
- The pressure in the tank is reduced, and the ultrasonic vibrations caused by the passage of water, air or other substances through a hole in the tank wall are detected by two sensitive sensors, one in the liquid and the other above the level of the liquid.
- The SDT 170 MTT detects the typical frequencies of leaks in underground tanks. It measures them and converts them to audible frequencies. These are fed back in three forms: visually and measured in dBV on the detector display, and audibly through his headphones.

Measurement Specialties has done pioneering work in the development of ultrasound sensing using Piezo film. Piezoelectric film ultrasound transmitters and receivers offer unique advantages for two-dimensional positioning applications such as:
- Digitizers
- Object detection
- Distance measurement
Piezo Sensor - 40kHz Digitizer Transmitter_Receiver
Description: Piezoelectric film (PVDF) ultrasound transmitter and receivers offer unique advantages for air ranging applications. Depending on the application, resonance frequency and vertical beam directivity of the transmitter and receiver can easily be customized by changing the diameter and length of the PVDF cylinder. The receiver has a very wide horizontal beam angle and it can be reduced by changing the housing design if necessary. PVDF transmitters and receivers also have very low resonance Q value of 5 and PVDF receivers have Q value of 4. This means that the rising time and the signal decay time are much faster than the conventional ceramic transmitters. This characteristic is suitable for high speed data acquisition or high speed digitizer applications. Cylindrical 40kHz PVDF transmitters exhibit omni-directional horizontal beam directivity and broad band characteristics. Cylindrical 40kHz PVDF receivers exhibit very wide horizontal beam directivity and broad band characteristics. These characteristics lend unique solutions in many applications such as two-dimensional positioning, digitizer, object detection, and distance measurement.
