Automatically controlling molten metal pouring processes can provide significant returns in terms of reduced cost, improved throughput and quality – as well as the ability to remove operators from dangerous environments.
LMI sensors are broadly used to provide accurate, sub-millimeter level information from the molten metal surface during pouring, in spite of the hostile smoky, high temperature environment
Our Metal applications division works closely with System Integrators & Original Equipment Machine Suppliers to deliver the most effective solutions for their particular sensor vision needs.

Application
Oil and petrol pose a great danger to groundwater and waste water.
WGA 01 monitors the level of the separated liquid in oil/petrol separators
and generates an alarm signal when it is necessary to empty
the separator. In addition, the maximum level in the separator can be
detected. This prevents overfilling caused by clogged outlets or other
circumstances. The unit prevents harmful substances from being
discharged into the mains drainage system.
Description
WGA 01 consists of an evaluation unit, a capacitance probe (WGAES4)
for detecting the layer level as well as an optional additional PTC
thermistor probe (WGA-R6) for detecting the maximum level (overflow
alarm). The evaluation unit is equipped with 2 relay outputs,
visual and audible alarms as well as test and re-set buttons. The WGAES4
probe is mounted at least 150 mm below the constant level of the
separator. As soon as the oil or petrol layer reaches the critical
level, the unit generates an alarm signal. By installing an additional
optional WGA-R6 probe above the constant level, the maximum permissible
level in the separator can also be detected. The evaluation
unit monitors the connected probes and signals short circuits or
cable breaks in the probe circuits.

A comprehensive modular system provides the basis for the configuration of individual level indicators – cost-efficient and directly suited to customer needs. Depending on requirements, we offer level indicators with almost any defined switching points, quasi-analog with dry reed resistor chains and a resolution of up to 5mm, pressure sensors in plastic or stainless steel with ½ or 1 ½ inch threads and current or voltage outputs and low cost capacitive level indicators. The probes in the capacitive level indicators can be cut to length by the user and simply calibrated at the touch of a button. For bulk solids we offer silo switches.

The capcitive filling level systems operate according to the three-electrode principle. With this principle the container or an additional electrode serve as a counter-electrode to the probe electrodes. For this reason it is necessary with this system that the container is of a conductive material or a "substitute electrode" is fixed to the container wall, e.g. copper foil. These systems are available with probes for analogue filling level measurement of for detection of 1, 2 or 3 measuring points. The position of the switching points and the analogue measuring area is user-definable within the possible effective range and therefore it can be determined for optimal matching of each application. Level measurements of bulk material, liquids or pastes are possible with a dielectric constant as of år 1,1.

Mainly based on the float switch design, these controllers help to monitor the liquid level (as combined units they monitor both liquid level and temperature) in oil reservoirs of fluid power and lubrication systems.
Attached to the tank top cover, they penetrate directly into the hydraulic fluid or the lubricant.
Each of the following series offers particular features and details culminating in the extreme density of functions offered by the Multiterminal.
Level Switch Nivotemp
Combined solution for the control of liquid level and temperature
Adjustable level contacts
Directly attached electronic contact thermometers optional
Connecting flange according to DIN 24 557 part 2

Level sensor
Monitoring the cartridge contents
The level sensor continuously monitors the level of the material to be dispensed and ensures that the storage tank is exchanged in time. A magnetic sensor detects the piston position of the pneumatic cylinder here, which exerts preliminary pressure on the material to be dispensed. Once a previously defined position has been reached, the sensor gives a signal indicating that the cartridge should be exchanged soon.
Technical Data:
Size: 8 x 11 x 28 mm (W x H x D)

Application:
Designed to signal minimum or maximum levels of water, heating
oil EL, L, M, oil/water mixtures and neutral, non-viscous and nonadhesive
liquids in tanks.
Description
Mini-/Maximelder consists of a control unit and a height-adjustable
float probe. The Minimelder probe is suspended in the lower part of
the tank and generates an alarm signal when the liquid level drops
below the probe. The Maximelder probe is mounted in the upper part
of the tank and generates an alarm when the liquid reaches the probe.
The switching level is adjustable. When these levels are reached, the
units generate visual and audible alarms.
