28.02.2008 Vouvry (Switzerland): A lot of process control applications need to react to level detection. In order to offer an easy way to trigger a signal as an input for a PLC or even switch power directly once a certain liquid level is reached, Microprecision electronics added a floater actuator to its successful V3 size MP300 switch series.
A floating polypropylene ball of 50 mm diameter is mounted on a stainless steel lever actuator. Designed for a working temperature of 100°C, short term up to 120°C, this solution also shows a good chemical resistance.
The floater activates a MP320 switch wired as a change over or just simply NO or NC. The switch itself is IP67 sealed and has a power rating of 250 VAC / 6A under EN61058, with an operating temperature range which can go up to 200°C. The switch can be equipped with PUR, SI or PVC cable of any length.

Bühler Liquid-level control for external mounting NS 10/...-AM
The control of liquid level in reservoirs, gear boxes or other complex constructions often requires the use of controls than can be mounted externally with a visual indication of level.
The NS 10... range of level controls has been designed specifically for these applications. The visual level indicator is a standard item and has excellent visibility from any direction. The indicator itself is guided in a transparent tube and is moved by the magnetic field of the unsinkable float inside the stand pipe . The electrical contacts or a continuous level transmitter are mounted to the indicator scale. The contacts can be adjusted to any position.
The connection to the main structure can be by means of standard pipe fittings or flanges. Contact types MKS-1/W-L-24V are equipped with an LED.

Application description:
The conductive rod probe SAT in combination with suitable switching devices (e.g. fill level limit switch SRA-100, SRA-101, SRA 102, SRE-200) is used for limit value detection and niveau control in electrically conductive liquids. Also possible is the detection of overflow, dry run, humidity, flow.
Depending on the selected type, it is possible to realize up to 6 switching points. The longest rod operates as ground reference.
The connection housing is protected against splashing water IP65. |

The SC120 probe and CN200 level transducer can continuously measure as well as control the level in a wide range of applications. They can be used in conductive and non-conductive liquids, solids such as grains and feeds, as well as slurries. The SC120 probe sends an mV signal to the CN200 transducer, which converts the (mV) signal into a 4-20mA signal. Unlike the SC 404, the SC120 working with the CN200 transducer has two adjustable level controls in a scale of 0-100% with bar graph level indication, as well as a Zero and Span adjustment.

The vessel, capacitance electrode and medium to be measured form together an electrical capacitor. The level change is monitored as a direct result of the variation in capacitance value around the probe, dependent upon the degree of immersion.

Products Level Measurement - Capacitive level sensors
All of the capacitive level sensors are now available with automatic calibration should the overall length need to be changed.
The required length can be easily adjusted by the user. Once the length has been shortened the unit will require to be re-calibrated. This is now very simple, just requiring the "Zero Adjustment" button to be pressed with the tank empty and the "Maximum Value Adjustment" button to be pressed with the tank full. The calibration is then done automatically by the integrated micro controller.
The advantages of these level sensors includes the ease of adjustment, voltage or current outputs, extremly robust by virtue of the coaxial measuring principle and a 2" BSP head. Additional switching points are available optional. |

The SC700 series are capacitance point level switches ideal for detection or control of liquids, solids, heavy pastes or slurries. Unlike other capacitance probes, the SC700 works for any type of conductive, non-conductive or low dielectric materials with extremely accurate performance, almost complete immunity from build up, temperature changes or condensation. Modern production facilities employ more and more plant automation systems and computerized controls. These allow the monitoring and control of hydraulic and lubricating systems. Traditional level controls are focused on pump protection i. e. a typical system is equipped with a level switch with one or two contacts. These contacts protect the pump from running dry in the event of leakage..
Modern systems provide the opportunity for a pro-active leakage control by the use of continuous signals.
An analog output of 4-20 mA signals continuous signals the fluid level. Deviations from the ""normal"" are detected instantly and can be transformed into many types of action. In case of a catastrophic failure such as a burst hose the pump could be shut down immediately rather then let it run until the traditional switch turns it off after a large volume of oil has spilt.
The Nivotemp 63 versions provide continuous analog signals for liquid level only or for level and temperature combined. They are available in two standard length or in 150mm increments. The flange dimensions are the standard ones used for filler/breathers ( DIN 24557/2). In addition the units can be combined with our Fluidcontrolterminal which makes oil care even more technically advanced.
The 63..VA versions are suitable for use with high water based liquids ( HFA).

The float switches are compact, reliable and very easy to install. They are not affected by electrical interference and with a wide range of materials are able to withstand various chemicals, high temperatures and high pressures. By varying the size of float and material used we are able to make sure the switch activities correctly every time.
The activation of the switch uses the principle of a reed switch and magnet.
When used in the vertical position the reed inside the stem is stationary and the float (housing a magnet) is moved up or down passed the reed switch (this closes the reed contact). When the magnetic field is moved away the reed switch opens.
When used in a horizontal position the float is used in a pivotal movement. The magnetic field inside the float is moved into the proximity of the reed switch inside the stationary stem. The reed switch opens or closes.

Its non-contacting design is ideal for abrasive, corrosive, high pressure and high temperature applications and the unique gamma transmission technology is unaffected by process variables such as pressure, temperature, viscosity or density. Continuous Level Measurement
The external mounting and the non intrusive arrangement of a continuous level measurement are some of the outstanding advantages, that determine it for various applications like:
high- and low-pressure reactors
agitated vessels
bunkers
autoclaves
hot material containers, etc.
No matter, what the physical- and chemical properties of the measured product are nor what the shape of the vessel is.

High frequency microwave impulses are coupled to a cable or rod and guided along the probe. The impulses are reflected by the product surface and received by the processing electronics.
Due to this measuring principle, the comprehensive adjustment with the product is no longer necessary. The instruments are adjusted to the ordered electrode length. The shortable cable and rod versions are suitable for individual adaptation to the local conditions.
Even process conditions such as high dust and noise generation or strong steamy atmospheres do not influence the accuracy of the measurement.
Density fluctuations, different granulation or even fluidising do not influence the accuracy. This applies also to the change from dry to wet gravel.
Strong build-up on the electrode or on the vessel wall does not affect the measuring result.
With measuring ranges up to 30 m, the sensors are also suitable for high vessels. Temperatures up to 150°C and pressures from vacuum up to 40 bar cover a wide application range.
By using a coaxial guide tube, VEGAFLEX 65 operates completely unaffected by vessel installations such as e.g. heating spirals or struts. A special adjustment is not necessary. |
