Ultrasound level sensor SIMATIC PXS
Recording of fill levels from a distance of 3 cm to 10 m
Our sonar proximity switches sense objects of varying materials, shapes, colors or consistencies with absolute precision, flexibility and reliability.
The ultrasound level sensor is proper for level applications in containers due to its design and its technical constructions. The devices feature two switching outputs to which different distances can be assigned. This allows, for example, the minimum and maximum fill level in a tank to be evaluated. Regardless whether the objects are liquid, solid, powdery or even transparent.

Short ultrasonic pulses between 10 kHz and 70 kHz are emitted by the transducer. These pulses are reflected by the product surface and received again by the transducer. They spread with sound velocity and the time from emission to receipt of the signals is proportional to the level in the vessel.
Latest microprocessor technology and proven ECHOFOX® software select the level echo from a number of false reflections and measure it exactly.
Just by entering the vessel dimensions, a level-proportional signal can be displayed. An adjustment with emptied and filled vessel is no longer necessary!
Thanks to different emitting frequencies, levels can be detected in a measuring range between 4 m and 70 m. Optional swivelling holders enable an ideal positioning of the sensors in the solid area.
Fluctuations of the product compositions or complete product changes do not influence the measurement results. A new adjustment is not necessary.
Advantages
- Non-contact
- Independent of product characteristics
Applications
- Level measurement of solids and liquids
- Good chemical resistance

Pulsar's innovative dB range of transducers has taken ultrasonic level measurement into a new era. Unlike the high voltage, frequency dependent transducers of other manufacturers, which require special, protected interconnect cables, or low powered transducers built with intrinsic safety rather than performance in mind, the dB series combines low electrical power that meets intrinsic safety requirements with extraordinary high sonic power to give range and performance.

Nivowave
Ultrasonic level measurement with revolutionary Acoustic Wave Technology
For continuous, non contact level measurement UWT GmbH now offers the new Nivowave series -
a solution for measurement where conventional ultrasonic measuring techniques have failed.
Acoustic Wave Technology provides exact measuring results even for long distances and in difficult applications. Dust, foam and environmental noise are problems of the past.
What is the Acoustic Wave Technology?
The Nivowave series emits a high powered acoustic wave transmit pulse hence any losses have a far less effect than in conventional ultrasonic devices.
The receiver circuitry is designed to identify and monitor low level return signals even when noise levels are quite high. Thus the environment conditions do not have much influence on the evaluation of signals. High power with low frequency combined with advanced software and the use of specifically shaped cones lead to successful measurement in a wide range of applications.
Automatic modulation of sensitivity and mapping of false echoes, simple mounting and easy programming cut the costs of commissioning considerably.
The measured signal is temperature compensated to provide maximum accuracy to the outputs and display.

Ultra-Trak passively monitors ultrasounds produced by operating equipment. It can be readily connected to alarms or recorders for datalogging, thanks to its 4-20 mA current output, coupled with a pure demodulated output.
Housed in stainless steel, the rugged Ultra-Trak 750 is water resistant and dust proof which means it can be externally mounted in some of the most challenging environments. Couple this with an extraordinarily wide dynamic range of 120 dB and sensitivity adjustment, this sensor is ready to meet your most demanding sensing needs.

For applications that require high ultrasonic power, the CEDRAT Group distributes the Ultrasonic Industrial Processors (UIP) throughout France and Europe, which are ultrasonic Langevin transducers made by Hielscher, a German partner company. Hielscher's wide product range of ultrasonic processors for industry allows for a seamless scale up from lab samples to bench top or prototype units and, most essential, to full industrial scale. The power spectrum for industrial applications reaches from 12 up to 16,000 watts per single processor at one time. These ultrasonic processors have many applications, such as welding, cutting, homogenizing, emulsifying, disintegration or deagglomeration and dispersion in the production process. Due to their high efficiency and low maintenance Hielscher systems are replacing ordinary technologies, such as shear pumps and high pressure homogenizers. For specific industrial applications where an ultrasonic treatment could improve a production process, Cedrat Technologies can provide technical support to help in the integration of Ultrasonic Industrial Processors (UIP).
Applications, customized actuators or new solutions are presented in the section Sonic & Ultrasonic Generators Technologies.

Piezoelectric film ultrasound transmitters and receivers offer unique advantages for air ranging applications. Resonance frequency and vertical beam directivity of the transmitter and receiver can easily be customized by changing the diameter and length of the PVDF cylinder. Cylindrical PVDF receivers exhibit very wide horizontal or omni-directional beam directivity and broad band characteristics. These characteristics lend unique solutions in many applications such as two-dimensional positioning, digitizer, object detection, and distance measurement. Piezo film ultrasound transducers also have very low resonance "Q" values. This means that the signal rise and decay times are much shorter than conventional ceramic ultrasound transducers, making Piezo film transducers ideal for positioning applications.
