Resistive sensors emit a virtually linear and continuous signal which, controlled by a suitable instrument, indicates the level of fluid in a tank
|
|
NC 56
Principles of Operation
Two parallel metal rods with a fixed distance between them form a capacitor when charged with an A.C. voltage.
When these rods are immersed in a liquid medium, the capacitance value is a function of the immersed length. With the probes fixed vertically downward, the immersed length is proportional to the liquid level. Capacitance of probes is therefore a function of level. An electronic circuit module within instrument converts the capacitance value to a level measurement and transmits as a linear standard electrical signal: 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA,0-10 V DC, 0-5 V DC, 1-5 V DC or 2-10 V DC.

Application
Suitable for detecting levels of
powdered and finely grained bulk
solids or of liquids. Especially
suitable for use in silos, hoppers,
tanks and containers.
Description
The CapFox® ENT 7 capacitance
level switch forms with its associated
probe a single compact unit.
The unit can be supplied with either
a flexible or a rod probe. The probes,
rigid or flexible (tensioned if
required) can be mounted horizontally,
vertically or at an angle.
Flexible probes can also be retrofitted
to the unit via an adapter.
The sensitivity is adjustable.
CapFox® ENT 7 features a voltagefree
relay contact which switches
when the pre-set level is reached.
The relay contact is used to control
ancillary electrical equipment such
as conveyors, slider valves or flaps,
pumps or blowers, visual or audible
alarms, or as an input to a PLC.
Minimum or maximum fail-safe
mode can be selected according to
process requirements.

Products Level Measurement - Capacitive level sensors
All of the capacitive level sensors are now available with automatic calibration should the overall length need to be changed.
The required length can be easily adjusted by the user. Once the length has been shortened the unit will require to be re-calibrated. This is now very simple, just requiring the "Zero Adjustment" button to be pressed with the tank empty and the "Maximum Value Adjustment" button to be pressed with the tank full. The calibration is then done automatically by the integrated micro controller.
The advantages of these level sensors includes the ease of adjustment, voltage or current outputs, extremly robust by virtue of the coaxial measuring principle and a 2" BSP head. Additional switching points are available optional.

The AFRISO-EURO-INDEX PMG 01 and PMG 02 guided micropulse level measuring systems are used for the continuous measurement of distances, volumes and levels of liquids, powders and granulates in containers, silos or tanks.
The measuring method works with changing media without requiring time-consuming recalibration. Turbulent, steaming or dusty surfaces as well as changes in density, pressure or temperature do not affect the measuring accuracy.
PMG 01 is suitable for medium temperatures from -30°C to +200°C. PMG 01 features 2-wire technology, is supplied with DC 20-29V and has a 4-20 mA output (HART).
The 4-wire technology PMG 02 unit is also suitable for interface measurement in containers with heights of up to 40 m. It is supplied with AC 230V (DC/AC 24V optional) and is available with an RS 485 interface or Profibus PA. A display that can be integrated provides information directly on site. The units are also programmed from here.

Level sensors are used to detect the level of liquids. In contrast to mechanical limit switches the switch points can be freely selected within the measuring range. One level sensor can replace up to four binary switches. Another advantage is direct level indication on the display. Adjustment to the medium is done automatically. The sensor is suitable for many liquid media.
> Reliable function even in coolant applications
> No time-intensive cleaning of mechanical components
> One sensor for all media – no adjustment necessary
> Selectable switch points for applications as required
> Direct level indication by LED display
> Modular concept saves time and money

The capcitive filling level systems operate according to the three-electrode principle. With this principle the container or an additional electrode serve as a counter-electrode to the probe electrodes. For this reason it is necessary with this system that the container is of a conductive material or a "substitute electrode" is fixed to the container wall, e.g. copper foil. These systems are available with probes for analogue filling level measurement of for detection of 1, 2 or 3 measuring points. The position of the switching points and the analogue measuring area is user-definable within the possible effective range and therefore it can be determined for optimal matching of each application. Level measurements of bulk material, liquids or pastes are possible with a dielectric constant as of εr 1,1.
|
|
The vessel, capacitance electrode and medium to be measured form together an electrical capacitor. The level change is monitored as a direct result of the variation in capacitance value around the probe, dependent upon the degree of immersion.
Advantages
- Rugged sensors suitable for universal applications
- High chemical resistance
Applications
- Level measurement and level detection of liquids and solids

High frequency microwave impulses are coupled to a cable or rod and guided along the probe. The impulses are reflected by the product surface and received by the processing electronics.
Due to this measuring principle, the comprehensive adjustment with the product is no longer necessary. The instruments are adjusted to the ordered electrode length. The shortable cable and rod versions are suitable for individual adaptation to the local conditions.
Even process conditions such as high dust and noise generation or strong steamy atmospheres do not influence the accuracy of the measurement.
Density fluctuations, different granulation or even fluidising do not influence the accuracy. This applies also to the change from dry to wet gravel.
Strong build-up on the electrode or on the vessel wall does not affect the measuring result.
With measuring ranges up to 30 m, the sensors are also suitable for high vessels. Temperatures up to 150°C and pressures from vacuum up to 40 bar cover a wide application range.
By using a coaxial guide tube, VEGAFLEX 65 operates completely unaffected by vessel installations such as e.g. heating spirals or struts. A special adjustment is not necessary.

The capacitive working LevelCheck 350C builds up a high-frequency, electrical field over the sensor surface.
If materials touches or is close to this field, the electrical field changes and the electrical signal changes within the sensor.
This is converted into a switching process. The sensitiveness of the sensor can be adjusted continuously to the adaptation
to different products.

Systems of assembly for tubes EMILE MAURIN the systems of assembly are elements of tightening which make it possible to build gauges, installations and operating systems at the same time easily and quickly by using sections of standard tubes, round or square. The very broad nut range of tightening cast solid or made up of several elements offers almost unlimited possibilities. The nuts of cast solid tightening allow very robust tubular constructions. In this case, one will use tubes of precision with an external diameter which remains in tight tolerances. The nuts of tightening made up of several elements are not indicated for tight tolerances because they can also be used with tubes of square section, which allows integration already existing systems.
