BinMaster’s capacitance sensors are used for high and low level detection in bins, silos, tanks, hoppers, chutes and other vessels used for material storage or process manufacturing. They operate by detecting the presence or absence of material in contact with the probe by sensing minute changes (as low as 0.5 pF) in capacitance caused by the difference in the dielectric constant of the material versus the air. Class II hazardous location ratings and a wide assortment of probes and extensions make these capacitance probes appropriate for a variety of solid, liquid and slurry materials.
BinMaster capacitance probes provide interference-free operation – working far below the RF level of 9 KHz at just 6 KHz. – and will not interfere with two-way radios or other equipment operating in the radio spectrum. They feature simple “quick set” calibration and fail-safe operation including a visual LED to indicate sensor status. Accurate level detection is assured even in dusty, sticky or clinging materials by the PRO-Shield feature which compensates for material build up on the sensing probe. They provide fail-safe protection in the event of a power failure as well as an adjustable time delay to help prevent false readings.
Standard models include the PROCAP I & II. For hazardous locations, the PROCAP IX & IIX feature CSA Class I, Groups C & D and Class II, Groups E, F & G ratings. The PROCAP I 3-A & II 3-A meet rigorous USDA, FDA and 3-A material & design standards for sanitary food and dairy processing. The PROCAP I-FL & II-FL offer “no probe intrusion” and are designed for space constrained areas or applications where material flow or bridging may damage a standard probe.

SpotCheck
SpotCheck is a level switch for use in liquid applications where avoiding contact with the product is vital. The sensor is clamped externally to the wall of the pipe or vessel. The method of measurement is suitable for steel, plastic or glass up to 50mm thick.

The LS provides level verification for a variety challenging sanitary applications. Minimally invasive, the LS is designed for both tank level detection and pipeline product monitoring. Pulsarpoint 600 - non-invasive point level measurement :
The Pulsarpoint 600 is ideal for situations where it is undesirable or impossible to make an entry into a liquid storage vessel, yet for example a high level alarm is required. Simply fixing onto the outside of the vessel, the Pulsarpoint 600 operates as an acoustic monitor, ultrasonic soundwaves being transmitted through the wall of the tank to detect the presence or absence of liquid.

The intelligent ultrasonic limit switch SONOCONTROL 40 controls the level of liquids and liquid gases. The new device of the SONOCONTROL series is used as a non-intrusive level control system through the wall, consisting of a probe, fastening, couplant and evaluation instrument.
The non-intrusive system can be used for ride-height control, full-/empty signaling, protection against dry running, position control, ice level control, limit control in liquids and liquid gases and for air bubble- and solid detection.

Operating Principle:
The electro-optic sensor contains an infrared LED and a light receiver. Light from the LED is directed into a prism which forms the tip of the sensor. With no liquid present, light from the LED is reflected within the prism to the receiver. When rising liquid immerses the prism, the light is refracted out into the liquid, leaving little or no light reach the receiver. Sensing this change, the receiver actuates electronic switching within the unit to operate an external alarm or control circuit.
Areas of Application:
The opto electronic level switches OPG04 are used for monitoring the level of liquids. Applications include plants in the refrigeration.

The optimized ultrasonic limit switch SONOCONTROL 15 detects quickly and reliably whether a pipe is filled with liquids / liquid gases or not. The compact sensor is mainly used in plants of the pharmaceutical sector and the food industry. Here, the SONOCONTROL 15 is employed for the protection of pumps and the control of filling systems.
The known advantages of the limit switch, such as the non-intrusive ultrasonic measurement through the wall as well as the precise distinction between empty and liquid filled pipes, have been upgraded by further favourable characteristics. The simplified installation method of the 2-wire system for example, which can be carried out even during system operations, guarantees an optimal use of the device. Due to a new pipe fastening system made of plastics the sensor can be relocated quickly and easily. Furthermore, the advanced firmware assures a stable operating mode.

Functioning :
The Microwave Pulse Sender-Receiver System is composed by electrical isolated units : the sender unit and the receiver one.
The sender emits a burst of microwave energy towards the receiver. This burst of energy is transmitted approximately 200 times each second.
When the line-of-sight between the sender and receiver is clear, the receiver will detect each of these bursts. If the line-of-sight is interrupted by a sufficiently reflective or absorbent material the energy will not detect the transmission.
The receiver is designed to switch a relay when the beam is cut. In each case the relay will switch only after the detector state has been maintained (since its change) for the respective time: any further change of state during a time out period will override the previous change.
The sensitivity of the detector is adjusted by a potentiometer that can compensate for partially reflective or partially absorbing materials. In the same way, it can be adjusted so that it will change state when only a fraction of the beam is blocked. There are two sensitivity adjustment potentiometers.
The relay can be set to either energize or de-energize when the beam is broken. This mode is set via a two-position slide switch in the receiver unit.
