Based on the high-precision evaluation of several coil systems, the new position measurement systems are a combination of proven inductive sensor technology and innovative microcontroller technology. Due to the simultaneous evaluation of multiple coil systems, these positioning systems provide very high repeatability, accuracy and resolution. Because of their inductive principle of operation they do not need ferrites or magnets as counterparts. Like an inductive proximity switch, the target can be made of any metal. Integrated safety functions, which for instance display the removal of the target out of the detection range, ensure additional system safety. Due to integrated temperature compensation, the inductive positioning systems are also well suited for harsh environments and critical positioning tasks.
Advantages:
High resolution and accuracy
Very good repeatability
Minimum temperature drift
Non-contact detection
Absolute
Teachable

Glass scale technology is the industry standard and is preferred worldwide for position feedback. For nearly four decades, ACU-RITE's precision glass scale technology has proven its superior reliability through consistent accuracy and durability.
Glass is an inherently stable material that resists changes in size, shape or density due to variations in temperature or humidity. This stability allows for the generation of numerous ultra-fine line patterns; providing ACU-RITE precision glass scales with exceptional accuracy down to ±1.5µm (.00006").
ACU-RITE scales are available in travel lengths from 1"-773" and in resolutions from 0.5µm (.00002") to 10µm (.0005").

In some critical bolting applications, factors such as friction or bolt/joint geometry are such that the measurement of applied torque alone will not provide the degree of accuracy necessary to control the preload within the required limits. Likewise, many critical applications also demand that bolt preload be monitored over the service life of the fastener as part of a predictive or preventative maintenance program. In these applications, ultrasonic measurement of fastener elongation and/or load has frequently proven to be the most accurate, reliable and cost effective solution.
Ultrasonic measurement of bolt preload is made possible by introducing a sonic pulse at one end of the fastener and accurately measuring the time of flight (TOF) required for the echo to return from the opposite end; using material constants, the USM-II converts this TOF into an "ultrasonic length" of the fastener, providing a baseline from which future measurements will be made. When the fastener is tightened, the TOF increases and the USM-II will again utilize material constants to eliminate the effects of stress and temperature variations on sound velocity, providing an accurate elongation or load measurement.
The USM-II uses state of the art hardware and software to achieve these measurements with maximum automation, and minimizes the need for operator interpretation. Offering digital recordation and transmission of data, as well as calibrated analog signal output the USM-II provides a complete system for measurement, recordation, and control of fastener tension in the most demanding applications.

SmartLX Consistency Transmitter
The simple and reliable design of the SmartLX Consistency Transmitter provides reliable consistency measurement in mechanical pulp processes without requiring routine maintenance. The SmartLX operates in the electromagnetic near-infrared range, using the ability of fibers to scatter and absorb light. This measurement principle has been developed specifically for mechanical pulp processes where the shear forces caused by fiber flow are too minute to be detected by shear force-based transmitters.
The SmartLX is not affected by flow rate variations and can, therefore, be installed in both laminary and turbulent flow. Its built-in compensation capability ensures that changes in the temperature of either the pulp or its electronic components do not interrupt or distort consistency measurement.
The SmartLX is suited for all pulps consisting of a single grade, or containing a fixed filler ratio, in a consistency range of 0.5% to 5% Cs. It is also good for measuring a variety of low consistency pulps (0.5% to 2% Cs) in SWG, TMP, PGW and CTMP plants, including pulps flowing to screens, exiting the latency removal chest, or rejected from the screen. Specific calibration curves for various pulps are stored in the SmartLX transmitter's memory, making calibration easy. In most cases, one-point calibration is adequate since the transmitter electronics handle the linear calculations.

A belt drive achieves its maximum lifetime when it is configured specifically to the application, the belt is perfectly tensioned and the pulleys are precisely aligned.
The TRUMMETER is an electronic measuring instrument that consists of a measuring probe and a microprocessor and is used for measuring the belt tension and checking the strand force of a belt drive.
The measurement result is displayed either in hertz, newtons or poundforce.
This measured value can be compared with the nominal value – specified by the belt drive manufacturer (as a natural frequency in Hz or a strand force in N). It is dependent on the characteristics of the drive.

The thinner the individual wire the higher the flexibility of the whole tension member! This interrelation led us to develop BRECO® BRECOFLEX® and SYNCHROFLEX® TIMING BELTS with E tension members.
In the E tension member the tension member cross-section is distributed to a lot more thin individual wires and, therefore, the bending fatigues are markedly lower in the individual wires. The advantage of the E tension members is a higher flexibility.
This is especially important, when smaller mounting dimensions for pulleys and tension rollers are required. The minimum number of teeth and/or minimum diameter of the pulleys can be fallen below up to 30% compared with standard tension members.
Timing belts with E tension members are recommended for multi-shaft drive with frequent bends.
Summary:
thinner individual wires in the steel cord
higher dynamic capabilities
extremely high bonding and bending fatigue strength
smaller pulley and tension roller diameter
no correction of the synchronising pulleys are necessary
