Based on the high-precision evaluation of several coil systems, the new position measurement systems are a combination of proven inductive sensor technology and innovative microcontroller technology. Due to the simultaneous evaluation of multiple coil systems, these positioning systems provide very high repeatability, accuracy and resolution. Because of their inductive principle of operation they do not need ferrites or magnets as counterparts. Like an inductive proximity switch, the target can be made of any metal. Integrated safety functions, which for instance display the removal of the target out of the detection range, ensure additional system safety. Due to integrated temperature compensation, the inductive positioning systems are also well suited for harsh environments and critical positioning tasks.
Advantages:
High resolution and accuracy
Very good repeatability
Minimum temperature drift
Non-contact detection
Absolute
Teachable

The digital magnetic scale ® consits of a band-shaped magnetic and a reading head with the from Sony® developed MR-Element, which even by little changes of the magnetic flux a stron and stable output signal is generated. The output signal of the reading head, is electronicay divided and converted into a digital signal. This has a much higher resolution as the pole divider of the magnetised, magnetic alternating field and therefore it can be used to measure and control.

Length measuring technology is used today in the most varying fields. The LINEAR length measuring units are setting and measuring units for general use on the shop-floor. The well-known length measuring units ULM are the standard units for quality assurance in the field of calibration metrology. They are used for high-precision length measurements on precision parts. The motorized PLM- and CiM- series allow user-friendly operation, fast and reliable measurements with the smallest uncertainty possible. Typical application fields are precision products and inspection devices. Throughout the wide product range from the simple LINEAR length measuring units to the ULM units up to the ultra-precise and semi-automatic CiM universal measuring machine, Mahr always offers a practicable solution for the production, the measuring room and calibration labs. In other words: The highest precision in metrology with extremely efficient measuring processes.

Heavy duty measuring unit, dual measuring wheels for better stability and contact, frame/bulkhead mounted.
This rugged instrument has a wide range of applications where an accurate record of length is required. It is a strong, heavy duty unit for use on calenders, tenters, rolling, ribbon winding textile machinery and almost all other continuous manufacturing processes. The unit can incorporate any of the heavy duty mechanical revolution counters described in the totalising and predetermining sections of this site.
• Available with shaft encoder for driving electronic counters or computers.
• Sturdy die-cast construction.
• Uses standard measuring wheels.
• Can tilted out of the way when not in use.
• Supplied with stand as an option.
The 2300 bolts directly onto a bulkhead or frame member. The intregal hinge arrangement allows the unit to be positioned at any angle.
The measuring wheels supplied can be 0.5m or 0.3m (18in or 12in) circumference (specify when
ordering). The weight of the assembly holds it in contact with the material being measured.

The magnetic measurement system includes a sensor an electronic converter and a magnetic tape. The sensor head detects the position as it is moved over the magnetic tape.
Magnetic rings are also available for rotary motion as alternative to linear magnetic tape. Different shapes, dimensions and custom-made versions are available.
The magnetic rings can be completely integrated on customer machine; they are available for diameter up to 500 mm and they can be mounted with any Lika sensor.
The measuring system is non-contacting and therefore wear-free.
Application areas are woodworking machines and sheet metal machines.
Some features are:
- IP67 protection level
- Reduced dimensions
- Resolution up to 1 mm
Low application cost is one of the system’s advantages. Moreover the system is protected against contamination and works even with strong vibrations, or in humid or dirty environment.
