The oxidation stability of biodiesel can easily be determined with the 873 Biodiesel Rancimat from Metrohm, a modern and reliable instrument with a 3 years’ warranty. In addition to reliable hardware and easy operation, it offers all the comfort to be expected from a PC-controlled instrument.
The method: oxidation stability according to EN 14112
The determination of the oxidation stability according to EN 14112 is an accelerated oxidation test. The sample is held in a sealed reaction tube at a constant temperature of 110 °C while a continuous flow of air is passed through the sample. The fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) in the sample are oxidized to peroxides as the primarily oxidation products. After some time, the fatty acids are completely decomposed into the secondary oxidation products. In addition to volatile organic compounds, these are low-molecular organic acids, mainly formic and acetic acids. An air flow transports them to a measuring vessel containing distilled water as the absorption solution.

Biochemical oxygen demand BOD determination is still one of the most important parameters in water resource management. It can be used to evaluate the impact of biodegradable substances in waters and waster water. With its OxiTop® systems, WTW offers a unique, modular and mercury-free instrument system. It is not only suitable for BOD determination, but also for measuring biodegradability and depletion.
In the course of growing environmental consciousness, microbiological degradability tests have become increasingly important. These can be, for example, soil surveys from waste sites or environmental impact surveys for new chemical substances. The necessary respiration measurements for anaerobic or aerobic degradation can be easily carried out using the OxiTop®-C systems with excellent analysis. WTW offers a wide range of application specific packages with appropriate sample vessels.
The advantages of OxiTop® and OxiTop® Control: simple operation, improved controllability and non-toxicity, and measuring ranges of up to 400 000 mg/l BOD (with OxiTop® Control OC 110). As the measured pressure is automatically converted the values can be directly read as mg/l BOD

Precise measurement is a product of the optimal interaction between electrode, calibration and meter. The obvious next step for us has been to develop meters to perfectly match our electrodes and buffer solutions. The result: The new Lab series of pH and conductivity meters from SCHOTT Instruments. These instruments are setting new standards for electrochemical measurement.
pH-meter Lab 850
The Lab 850, our “starter” model in the new series, comes with the advanced measuring algorithm specially adapted to SCHOTT Instruments’ electrodes. The result is a calibration and measurement in usual precision – but in a much shorter time!
pH-meter Lab 860 and conductivity meter Lab 960
Whether conventional via RS232 or modern via USB slave – both interfaces to the PC are integrated in the Lab 860 and Lab 960. No adapter is required.
pH–meter Lab 870 and conductivity meter Lab 970
The quality controller’s dream: A measuring instrument automatically recognizes the electrode! The new sensors with unique identification send their specific data to the measuring instrument … wireless! Thus the Lab 870 and Lab 970 always use the correct calibration for the identified sensor and help you to avoid errors in measurement.

HI 2300 performs EC, TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), percentage of NaCl and temperature measurements. The auto-ranging feature for EC and TDS measurements automatically sets the resolution suitable to the tested sample.
All measurements can be temperature compensated at 20 or 25°C and the compensation coefficient is selectable by the user. The automatic temperature compensation can also be disabled for measuring the actual conductivity value. The stability indicator on the LCD ensures accuracy.
Conductivity readings are performed by applying an alternate current to the 4-ring probe which creates a variable voltage directy proportional to conductivity.
The GLP feature allows users to store and recall data about system status.

The total TDS is a mass estimate and is dependent on the mix of chemical species as well as the concentration while conductivity is only dependent on the concentration of chemical species. Some applications require the measurement of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in mg/L, parts per million (ppm) or parts per thousand (ppt). The TDS concentration can be obtained by multiplying the conductivity
value with a factor which is empirically determined. Eutech offers meters that allow the direct reading
of TDS values. These include the TDSTestr series, EcoScan TDS 6, CyberScan Standard Portables CON 11, CON 110 and Waterproof Portable CON 410. Bench meters for advanced level laboratory research are the CyberScan CON 510, CON 1500 and colour touchscreen research-grade CON 6000.

OX60
WPA's OX60 meter is based on proprietary Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) design and uses a new low cost 12mm diameter galvanic DO probe that is easy to use. This compact meter is ideal for indoor and outdoor applications.
OX100
The OX100 Dissolved oxygen meter is designed to overcome the traditional problems with field calibration and lack of reliability associated with many DO instruments.

DO stands for Dissolved Oxygen, which is the measure of amount of gaseous oxygen dissolved in a solution. In theory, the amount of DO in a solution is dependent on 3 factors, namely temperature, salinity and atmospheric pressure. The measurement of DO requires a special DO electrode that is made up of an anode, a cathode, electrolyte solution and a gas permeable membrane.

Model HPM 4/6 portable vacuum meters are compact, hand-held, digital display, battery operated control units. When combined with the Hastings Instruments rugged thermopile sensors, they become vacuum instruments designed for portability and ease of use in applications where AC power is not readily available.
The lightweight control units operate with a standard 9 volt battery, and are available for display in units of Torr or mbar. Additionally, they can be calibrated to an individual sensor or set for average sensor output to test many different sensors of the same type. They are switchable to offer display for both the DV-6 (0.001 to 1 Torr) and the DV-4 (0.01 to 20 Torr) sensors without re-calibrating. These sensors are rugged, noble metal sensors which are resistant to corrosion and can be ordered with a variety of system connections to meet your system's requirements such as VCR(R), KF 16, KF 25, Glass, MiniConflat™, etc.
VCR is a registered trademark of Cajon Company.
MiniConflat is a trademark of Varian Associates, Inc.
