The load cell in ring form is used for the meaurement on shafts and spindles to which a load cell of standard shape cannot be attached.
The distinctive feature of this load cell by comparison with the others is the ring shape of the load cell piston and diaphragm. The force acts on a thrust roller bearing and is transmitted without rotation to the ring shaped piston. In accordance with the surface area of the piston the force acting on it is transferred to the hydraulic fluid and from there via the connecting tube to the measuring instrument.
The straightforward relationship between the pressure, force and piston surface area enables the scale of the measuring instrument to be graduated in a variety of units, e.g. kN, kg, t, m3 or litres. Maximum piston stroke is 0.8mm.
The widely differing conditions governing installation, particularly in the case of the ring shaped load cells, will often require different designs of casing and fastenings. In most cases it would be possible to adapt design to customer´s requirements. The measuring devices employed may be pressure gauges, pressure sensors or other pressure measuring devices fitted with contacts.

The S400 range of 'button' style load cells was designed for those force measurement applications where space is at a premium. Constructed from 17-4PH stainless steel, the devices are available in full scale capacities from 50 lb to 1000 lb and are complete with shielded cable to custom lengths.

Typical applications of the force transducer can be found in machine building, factor automation and lifting equipement. The force transducer, which fulfills protection class IP67, is used for weighing applications or overload detection. In machines they measure the force of pressing, closing or jointing.
Due to the stainless steel housing the force transducer is well suited for rough industrial environments. The maximum force of the different versions varies from 2 kN to 50 kN. The output can be 4…20 mA or 0…10 V. A standard M12 connector is used for electrical connections. The integrated amplifier guarantees a minimal temperature drift, long term stability, and reproducability of the measured values.

Loadstar’s iLoad Mini load cell is based on the same Capacitive Technology as the iLoad and iLoad Pro load cells. However, it differs in one important respect–the Mini outputs a square wave whose frequency is proportional to the applied load. The Mini, the smallest load cell currently offered by Loadstar Sensors, is a small circular sensor with a diameter of just 1.25 in. and is available with either a threaded stud or a load button on top of the load cell. It has three threaded holes on the bottom of the sensor to easily mount the load cell with commonly available hardware.
