mGard is the premier range of modular robust trapped key interlocks for heavy duty applications. Trapped key interlocking is a tried and tested method of mechanically safeguarding dangerous machines and hazardous processes, and is suitable for category 4 (EN 954-1) applications. It is called "Trapped Key" as it works by releasing and trapping keys in a predetermined sequence. After the control or power has been isolated, a key is released that can be used to grant access to individual or multiple doors.
The principles of trapped key technology apply to all industries where it is essential that all energy sources are isolated before gaining access to machinery. Almost all safety issues can simply be solved by selecting the required products in the following order

AZM range solenoid interlocks, operating in combination with control elements of a machine, e.g. fail-safe standstill monitors or fail-safe delay timers, ensure that sliding, hinged and removable guarding devices, such as grids , hoods or doors, cannot be opened until hazardous conditions (e.g. running-down movements) have come to an end.
These solenoid interlocks are also used for cases in which the opening of a guarding device represents a non-permissible intrusion in a production process.
In combination with AES and AZR range safety monitoring modules, the AZM range solenoid interlocks achieve Control Category 3 or 4 to EN 954-1, subject to suitable circuit arrangements. Examples of circuits for solenoid interlocks are shown in the Schmersal Control Circuit and Applications Handbook.

The NX range permits a module selection which includes at the same time mechanical interlocking systems so that it turns into one single element.
The NX range is a versatile and modular system for machinery guarding applications. The NX range is composed of mechanical bolt locks with modules like herses for padlock or electrical contact of security, and accessories from different latches type.
The principle of key release and locking is directly integrated in the interlocking system.
The NX range is completely evolving and can be tailored for any application due to its modular configuration. NX is also easily adapted to changing circumstances. As regulations or procedures change, modules can be removed and new features can be simply added to the unit. This range is totally suitable with security norms in force which always are becoming stronger.
The different components of the NX range are completely built in stainless steel so that they can give a perfect resistance to harsh environments. Fields of application are diverse: concrete, chemistry, energy, electric, etc…

Magsafe is Smartscan’s latest innovation in machine safety. An electro-magnetic interlocking system for controlling personnel access through the gates and doors set within the perimeter safety fencing or screens surrounding potentially hazardous machinery.
The key design element in Magsafe was to lock the door using magnetic force rather than by mechanical means and to remove the problems that plague existing gate locks due to liquid and dirt exposure in combination with the rigors of daily operation. This causes fatigue and leads to mechanical failure of the product. The ability to withstand harsh industrial environments such as water, dust and corrosive liquids Magsafe is the perfect solution for most guard locking applications.
In addition to this Smartscan has applied its safety light curtain technology background to the safety gate interlocking market by providing a system control unit which continuously monitors the on and off state of the magnets. This ensures the system detects when the gate is open and when it is closed. Only when the gate is closed and the magnetic locking force applied, will the control system allow machine operation. |

Nozzle Type Inslot/Outslot Motor Winding Machine

The KAI series coil winding machine has been developed for direct nozzle winding of inside slot stators for small motors.
With AC servo motors and Nittoku`s recently developed NSC60 machine controller, the KAI series can not only wind, but also perform terminal wrapping. A single machine can be set up for a variety of specifications. It features quick and easy specification change-over, a compact, simple mechanism, and 4-axis NC control.
Perfect layer winding is made possible by intermittent nozzle traverse. In addition, the nozzle stroke height can be changed with each layer, resulting in a tighter wind.
Nozzle tilt mechanism rotates the nozzle 90 degrees for termination. This plus the wire finishing unit allows the machine to handle multiple specifications.
The KAI series can be linked with our other machines via our free flow transfer system. Processes before or after winding, such as terminal insertion, soldering, testing and assembly, can be fully automated. |
