The PXS or PSS type products are sensors designed to control the opening of protective devices, machine casings and access doors.
Associated with their respective coded magnet and a controller module, they are capable of monitoring 1 or more "O" contacts
(break, closed with a magnet) and/or 1 or more "C" contacts (make, closed with a magnet). They meet the "CE" directives and
European regulations relating to machine conformity as per the standards EN60204 - EN1088 - En 954 and be covered by the
categories 1 to 4 of these standards according to the associated module (CETIM certificate).
Safety functions performed thanks to :
- Tamper-proof: the sensor, associated with its coded magnet, reduces the possibility of tampering ; a standard magnet cannot
actuate the sensor .
- Redundancy: the components are redundant. If part of the sensor fails, the redundant circuit continues to operate.
- Unbalance: associated with a controller module which checks the unbalance of the signals from the sensor, the first fault is
signaled if the switches are not actuated in the right order
Magnetic safety sensors represent an alternative to mechanical position switches in the following cases :
- Mechanical clearance required to overcome alignment or vibration problems,
- Compulsory complete sealing: industrial, food and mechanical environments,
- Longer lifetime and reliability.

PSEN sensor technology, Safety for man and machine
Safety switches ... for safety gate and position monitoring :
Hazardous machine movements must be stopped when a guard is opened. It must not be possible to either defeat or manipulate these guards. PSEN safety switches meet this requirement and are therefore suitable for monitoring gates in safety fences for safety zones, for example.
Safety bolt ... for safety gates in a rugged everyday industrial environment :
For safety gates that are difficult to adjust or in areas where safety gates are often opened and closed, protection must be provided against defeat and manipulation, but a long material service life must also be guaranteed. PSENbolt provides a complete solution, comprising safety switch, handle and bolt.
Safe camera systems : to monitor two-dimensional (2D) or three-dimensional (3D) zones.

BNS range magnetic safety sensors serve to monitor the position of sliding, hinged and removable safety guards. Sensors without integral evaluation can only be used for safety duties to DIN VDE 0660-209 in combination with a safety guard monitor of the AES / AZR range for protection up to Control Category 4 to EN 954-1, see chapter 10.2.
The use of magnetic safety sensors is of particular advantage in cases where extremely dirty conditions can occur or high hygienic standards need to be maintained. This is provided by the simplicity of cleaning the units.
A further advantage is the facility for concealed mounting under non-magnetic materials. Working surfaces and storage areas can be arranged without the need for dust-collecting edges or other functionally required cut-outs or projections.
BNS range magnetic safety sensors can also be used in cases where a precise approach is not possible and greater tolerances are required.
Schmersal make both standard and AS-i Safety at Work magnetic safety sensors.

The industry's most complete line of contact and non-contact products. GE Security Industrial safety interlock switches are used to detect the opening of guards-including doors, gates and/or removable covers-that prevent access to dangerous parts of a machine, and to help deter tampering with the guards or the internal machine controls. As with all GE Security Industrial 300-BT products, the safety interlock switches are in full compliance with the most current and required standards. These include IMQ, CE, VDE, UL, CSA, IEC, EN and Semi S2 standards.

Stricter safety regulations, and the need for tamper-proof safety at work, now make modern safety switches indispensable. Interlock expertise from SICK opens up numerous new opportunities for use.

The Optex OA-Fusion I/II/III are suited for the retrofit market. You can upgrade doors that were installed years ago to the safety level of today at reasonable cost by fitting the OA-Fusion I/II/III behind the existing activation sensor.
The Optex OA-Fusion is an active infrared safety sensor tested and approved by the German test organization TÜV and in compliance with DIN 18650 and the preliminary European norm prEN 12650.
The Optex OA-Fusion I/II/III are equipped with test outputs suitable for almost every automatic door, by choosing the right dipswitch setting.

Perfect all around protection up to category 3 (according to EN 954-1) is promised by our optical distance sensors. In a working angle of 190° and over a distance of up to 4.0 m (in non-safety applications up to 15 m), the laser scanner reliably detects any object or person.
This is how it works: The distance sensor transmits light pulses in regular intervals. If they hit an obstacle, the sensor receives the reflected light and analyzes it. If the defined, to be protected area is compromised, a stop function will be triggered. With up to four programmable and runtime-switchable protective field pairs, our laser scanners can be optimally adapted to any application, e.g. machines, production robots, conveyor systems and vehicles.
In doing so, the various models enable an optimal system integration with the automation: whether conventionally into the safety circuit, via PROFIBUS with PROFIsafe or via AS Interface with ASIsafe.

Catalytic DrägerSensors
Catalytic DrägerSensors for the detection of flammable gases and vapors utilise Pellistors which are based on the catalytic effect. Different sensor versions will suit even the most demanding industrial applications.
The DrägerSensor Ex PR M (PR = poison resistant) contains pellistors, which in the presence of catalytic poisons have a longer lifetime than conventional sensors.
The DrägerSensor Ex HT M contains also PR-pellistors, but additionally is approved to be used at temperatures up to 150 °C.
The DrägerSensor Ex LC M contains PR-pellistors, which by their special encapsulation and electronic amplification are suitable to monitor very low gas concentrations. The measuring range is 0...10% LEL.

The CEDES ELS family is well-known in the market as a high-quality, inexpensive through-beam sensor.
There are various applications involving the ELS (also known as a photo cell) in which individual or dual light curtain systems are utilized. Dual light curtain systems are often installed to ensure the safety of automatic doors. The evaluation unit of a ELS system can optimally analyze one or two light beams.

The compact color area sensor SIMATIC MV220 is a complete machine vision system for the automatic inspection of colored objects. It is optimally suited for use in rough industrial environments thanks to its IP 65 degree of protection. Since the operation is so easy that no training is required, and the system is "trained" instead of programmed, even non-experts can start right away. The integration into the plant automation is carried out via digital inputs and outputs.
