Electrostatic charging bar

SIMCO offers a variety of charging bars and electrodes, depending on the specific applications and conditions. These bars are connected to a DC high-voltage industrial generator. A strong, ion-saturated electrical field around the single polarity high voltage points forces the material to a reference earth. The material is charged by the ions. Being attracted by different polarities, the surfaces temporarily cling together. There are various methods of temporarily charging materials electrostatically, using a SIMCO Chargemaster system.

SIMCO anti-static bars generate an electrical field through a high voltage on a row of ionizing emitter points. This causes the air molecules in the vicinity of the bar to break down into positive and negative ions. Because opposite charges attract, any charged material passing near the bar will attract ions until the charge on the material is neutralized. The materials will no longer be attracted to each other or to the machine parts. Attraction of dust, explosion or fire hazards and electrical shocks to personnel caused by static discharge are avoided.

The Series R50/R51 discharge bars are designed for the active discharging of disruptive static charges which develop in production processes.The bars are operated with an alternating voltage of 5 kV or 8 kV at 50…60 Hz and are designed for discharging moving surfaces.

Due to differences in the surface charge profiles on different materials, charges with both polarities are provided by the discharge bars. The corona section with its optimized geometrical configuration ensures
ultimate discharging efficiency.

Discharging can be supported by the L50 air profile. The advantages of the R50/R51 discharge bars:

• ultimate discharge range and hence enhanced depth effect
• high active discharge power through isolated ground conductors
• high safety standards through passive discharging power with deactivated power supplies manufacturer
• flexible installation
• no health hazards from electric shocks when making contact with the tips

The NEW PerforMAX 3 is the most advanced static control system available for monitoring static neutralizing performance. PerforMAX3 provides outstanding extended range performance to eliminate static charges even when installed 2" to 10" from webs (depending on conditions), and up to 20" on winders.

R23ATR

The point charging bar R23ATR is used wherever target-specific electrostatic charges need to be applied even at high temperatures. For instance in edge trim adhesion in flat film production.

Using the point charging bars R23ATR, both outer edge zones of the film are fixed directly downstream from the flat film extrusion die to prevent neck-in.

The point charging bar R23ATR can be operated with one, two or three emission tips. The tips are interchangeable. The geometry of the tips is adjustable depending on application. This means that the point charging bar R23ATR may be used horizontally or vertically even in confined spaces.

Electrostatic charging bar

Many production processes and processing stages require materials to be bonded firmly for limited periods. The bonds must not leave any traces and must not be allowed to damage the material surfaces when the materials are eventually separated.

The adhesion through controlled static charges provides the ideal solution in these cases: the R130A / R131A / EXR130A charging bar is designed for applying the specific charge quantity. High-resistance materials such as paper, cardboard, plastics etc. are interlocked for brief periods or fastened to conductive surfaces, without the need to use industrial adhesives.

The design of the R130A / R131A / EXR130A charging bar allows its use in perfect harmony with the intended purpose. In combination with the Eltex high voltage professional generator models this effective charging system ensures productivity and quality improvements in the most varied production areas.

The charging bar EXR130A is available for use in the Ex zone.

Explosion proof antistatic bar

The EXR5C discharge bars are designed for the active discharging of disruptive static charges which develop in production processes in explosion hazard area.

The discharge bars and the power supply are used mainly in cases where disruptive static charges on fast-moving material webs impair production processes and need to be eliminated.

The bars are operated with an alternating voltage of 5 kV at 50…60 Hz and are approved for use in explosive atmosphere.

The advantages of the EXR5C discharge bar:

• ultimate discharge range and hence enhanced depth effect
• high active discharge power through isolated ground conductors
• high safety standards through passive discharging power with deactivated supplier of power supplies

Expanders can be supplied as single- and multistage variants, in axial or radial configurations. With maximum inlet temperatures of up to 760 °C, an inlet pressure of 16 bar and outputs of up to 30 MW, they can be connected to a industrial generator or directly to the machinery train.
