When you need a permanent mark on extruded plastic products, the Matthews Hot Print continous rotary branders can get the job done. This friction-driven system is ideal when ink marking alone does not meet code requirements. Available in two styles, with or without foil, both units use heated steel type to form a crisp indented mark that is permanently imbedded in plastic pipe and other in-line extrusions.
Some new enhancements to this product line include a tape-saver motor & retrograde tape-saver kit designed to prohibit the foil tape waste involved in typical continuous marking processes. By purchasing a model with this feature or retrofitting a tape-saver motor to your existing Hot Print Brander, all colored tape is consumed at a reduced rate eliminating space holding characters. This innovation allows for a great reduction in the production cost of marking foil tapes.
The resulting mark is abrasion-resistant, making the product suitable for both outdoor and underground use. For a high-contrast mark, the Thermo Foil brander adds the option of embedding a colored foil into the branded mark. Indent-A-Mark Roll Markers are used in applications where larger characters, longer legends and greater marking force are required. With the proper tooling, roll marking is used to mark on metal products with flat, concave, convex, recessed, round, cylindrical and conical surfaces.
During the marking cycle, a ram travels vertically downward, then across the part to be indented. Each indented character is formed one at a time. A flat die with a dove tail holder is used to mark around the circumference of round parts and a roller die is used to indent on flat parts.

The scribing technology produces high quality characters and logos with continuous line style. Noise level operations are extremely low. Deep marking can be achieved (up to 0.7 mm / 0.3).
Scribing is produced by the continuous motion of a diamond or tungsten carbide stylus pin mounted within a pneumatic cylinder.

The Automatic Embossing System (AES) uses programmable stamper technology to emboss metal tags. Each AES software operating system is designed to meet the client’s tag, interface, and system needs. Information can be input manually by an operator or received from other sources, such as host computers, bar code scanners, scales, or databases.
The software operating system performs the multiple tasks of the embossing system in a continuous cycle. The tag drive automatically feeds tag stock to the embossing area, where it is then clamped and embossed. Tags can be made one at a time, in small batches, or in large batches where finished tags are collected on the motorized recoiler. The programmable stamper is equipped with an adjustable slide enabling height adjustment to ensure optimal embossing performance.
The AES accepts coiled tags in a variety of sizes, materials, and colors. Tags can be supplied with holes or slots for easy attachment to various products.
