Free-form Geometry Creation
Whether you start with imported geometry or need to create your own geometry, GibbsCAM Production Milling's free-from geometry capabilities provide a powerful means to create and edit geometry for machining. GibbsCAM's graphical user interface infers what operations you want to perform based on the elements selection dramatically streamlining interactions with the system. Auto-chaining eliminates the need to continually stop the work flow to trim and connect geometry.
Graphical Tool Definition
GibbsCAM Production Milling's graphical user interface to define tools shows the user key dimensions to allow easy and error free tooling creation. The system supports a wide variety of predefined tool types as well as user-defined form tools.
Multi-Process Programming
GibbsCAM Production Milling allows you to select geometry once and to apply multiple machining operations, such as a series of rough, semi-rough, finish passes, to it all at one time. The resulting processes are associated to each other as well as the original geometry allowing updates to be easily accommodated.
Knowledge-Based Programming
GibbsCAM Production Milling allows processes (including Multi-Process Processes) and associated tooling to be saved and re-used between programs. A knowledge base library of process/tooling can be developed from a shop's best machining practices improving programming efficiency, program consistency and part quality.
Full 2/2.5-Axis Programming
GibbsCAM Production Milling provides a full range of functionality for defining processes for efficiently machining 2- and 2.5-axis parts from geometry.

VX Machinist provides a complete overview of the entire manufacturing process associated with a product design. The included CAM modules are not 3rd party solutions or external modules; they are seamlessly integrated with the hybrid modeling kernel and take full advantage of its characteristics. QuickMill offers dramatic speed and tool path improvements for mold and die machining applications - yet has exceptional ease of use to minimize training and support. VX supports a full range of material handling and cutting techniques to allow complex milling in 3D. The 2 Axis milling Tactic provides a rich set of tool paths for rough stock removal and surface finishing. It also provides the means for the operator to make holes or cut access holes with drills or mill tools. 3 Axis milling provides several families of tool paths based on different algorithms for positioning the tool. Because of VX's ability to maintain complete associativity and synchronization with the 3D product model the manufacturing information can be updated directly from the design data. Process definition and NC programming can begin sooner and design changes are much easier to accommodate. The result is increased productivity and improved quality.

Machine Complex Free-Form Shapes with Ease
ESPRIT's NURBS-based machining engine handles fabricating difficult free-form shapes with ease. Specifically designed to address the 3D challenges in the mold, die, and toolmaking markets, ESPRIT provides you with a powerful set of tools and machining cycles for free-form roughing, Z-level machining, finishing, and re-machining in 3-axis or 5-axis.
5-axis Free-Form Machining
Machining complex 3D parts in a single setup is easy with the powerful ESPRIT CAM system. ESPRIT streamlines programming and provides dynamic onscreen program verification, eliminating the need for expensive machine-tool dry runs. For 5-axis finishing, ESPRIT gives you a full range of options, including planar, normal, transitional, parametric, and offset styles. Program your 3D 5-axis machine cycles with ESPRIT and benefit from the superior surface quality, part accuracy, and material removal rates provided by today's multi-axis machine tools.
High-Speed Machining
ESPRIT's high-speed machining (HSM) functionality is built into all its machining cycles allowing you to cut hardened materials in minimal time while maintaining constant loads on cutting tools utilizing the smooth, continuous movements so critical in 3D HSM. Your choices include sharp corner smoothing, loop-style bridge movements, ramp and helical entry into material, spiral-style cutting with constant overlaps, tangency entry, and constant Z-level cutting. HSM optimization for NURBS, spline-curve and arc-optimized G-code output is built into ESPRIT's universal post processor.
Z-Level Machining
ESPRIT's Z-level machining cycle automatically maintains constant loads on cutting tools for smooth, continuous high-speed toolpaths. When creating a Z-level finishing operation you have the option to machine the entire part or selectively machine only vertical or horizontal areas. When machining the entire part you can choose to cut the vertical and horizontal areas with different tools and use both roughing and finishing options.
