With Q-DAS' popular procella SPC software, measurement and inspection data can be quickly acquired either by manual input or on-line, via the serial interface of the measuring device. On-line visualization of the acquired data enables timely detection of trends and out-of-control conditions.
The user is therefore in an excellent position to initiate timely corrective action. Data are checked against individually defined alarm thresholds (violation of tolerance or control limits) as soon as they are collected. If an alarm occurs, the operator is required to acknowledge the alarm. Actions taken, events and causes can be documented.
The user can be required to enter supplementary data (cavity, machine, batch, etc.), which allows for traceability throughout, and for object-related analysis of relevant information.
In advanced enterprise solutions, integration via an IDI interface connection with SAP/R3 QM makes it possible to load inspection lots generated by SAP into procella for data acquisition. Once the examination is completed, the acquired data are transferred back to SAP. In this way, users can benefit both from the flexibility of procella in terms of data acquisition and on-line visualization, and the advantages of a centralized umbrella system such as SAP.

Infrared thermography is an effective approach to non-contact measuring of temperature distribution for a range of applications. To use this approach also in industrial process control, InfraTec offers INDU-SCAN as a modular test system based on thermographic cameras for a variety of performance ranges for stationary applications.
The thermographic camera is installed in the immediate proximity of the process to be monitored. To withstand unfavourable environmental conditions, the camera unit can be protected with a housing and an air purge unit. To cover large monitoring requirements, the camera can be mounted on a pan/tilt head. Using digital data output is an excellent pre-requisite for flawless and long-term stable processing of all pixel temperature values of the image. The image can be synchronised with the process rate. Over a connection line with varying length, if required a glass fibre transfer line, the data is passed on to the evaluation unit based on an industrial PC with a colour display.

Nor-Cal offers an extensive selection of commonly used quartz crystal feedthroughs, sensors and multi-channel monitors, cables, quartz crystals, accessories and replacement parts for use in semiconductor, optical and industrial thermal deposition processes. Custom feedthroughs are available with a variety of flanges in all sizes.
Our coating instrumentation products support one of the more popular methods of thin film measurement and rate control _ the crystal monitor, which utilizes the piezoelectric properties of a quartz crystal.
The electrical characteristics of the crystal, which is held in place by the sensor, change during deposition. Single sensors are generally used for short deposition runs, whereas, dual sensors allow for longer runs. Dual sensors require an airline to operate a pneumatic shutter which covers one crystal at a time. The sensor is either welded to the feedthrough or attached with connectors. Most sensors are available with cooling lines.
The application determines the correct choice of sensor. The sensor determines compatible feedthroughs and cabling. The chamber determines the appropriate feedthrough and flange. For application temps up to 150°C, electrical connection between the sensor and feedthrough is accomplished with a vacuum coaxial cable. A bakeable, one piece sensor/feedthrough replaces the standard in-vac cable with a stainless steel high-temp coaxial line for high temperature applications up to 300°C.

The patented Honeywell SmartCET® corrosion transmitter uniquely provides on-line, real-time corrosion information that enriches the information in a process knowledge system (PKS). SmartCET interfaces to a DCS or PKS using a 4-20 mA signal with a HART protocol, allowing legacy system and Experion customers to have a direct method to bring the corrosion data into their system.
SmartCET gives plant operators access to time-trended general (uniform) corrosion rate, which can be correlated with plant process information. Also, it provides an indication of corrosion modality (localized or pitting corrosion) detection. Localized corrosion is responsible for approximately 70 percent to 90 percent of all corrosion-related equipment failures.
The SmartCET transmitter is available in two versions: a multivariable version and a single variable version. The multivariable version outputs a general (uniform) corrosion rate, a localized (pitting) corrosion indicator and two additional corrosion variables useful for further analysis.
SmartCET deploys a proprietary and patented automated, electrochemical multi-technique. The techniques applied include LPR in combination with two more recently developed and quantitative techniques: Electrochemical Noise (ECN) and Harmonic Distortion Analysis (HDA).

Raytek announces the launch of its new GS110 Infrared Thermal Imaging System for Low Emissivity (Low-E) Glass. This system is specifically designed to monitor one-side coated flat glass during the tempering process. The GS110 scanns the topside of the glass and measures simultaneously the temperature on the uncoated side of the glass where the emissivity is both known and significantly higher. The measured data are transferred to the Windows-based GS110 software which is included in the GS110 system. The software automatically corrects the thermal image of the topside of the glass to provide a more accurate result. Further, the GS110 allows the user to set-up predefined recipes to accommodate frequent product changes typical in glass processes. OPC server functionality is included as an integral part of the proprietary software allowing for seamless integration of the data into other process control software packages. By quickly detecting thermal irregularities within the glass and identifying defective heating elements, the GS110 allows glass processors to improve product quality and uniformity, and to reduce scrap. The GS110 can be used for non-contact infrared temperature measurement in other secondary glass-processing applications such as bending, forming, and annealing.

Small size. Big performance.
The XC-EI50/CE and XC-EI30/CE incorporate the latest 1/2 type and 1/3 type Interline (IT) CCD with near-infrared sensitivity. Sony surface mount technology results in an ultra compact, rugged unit that provides high quality images.
IR lighting has become very popular in machine vision applications. When used with an IR LED illuminator, these cameras can capture clear images because of their sensitivity at infrared wavelengths. In addition the XC-EI Series camera modules have high overall sensitivity. This makes them suitable for low light environments as well as for special IR lighting conditions.
A single standard 12-pin connector provides control of input/output signals as well as power.
The recommended camera adaptor for these units is the compact and lightweight DC-700/CE.

Iron and Steel Slag Detection System
The definitive infrared thermal imaging system for steel slag monitoring
When liquid steel is tapped from a basic oxygen or electric arc furnace, it is advantageous to minimise the quantity of slag carried over into the ladle.
Previously this has been done by visual observation of the tapping stream or by the use of electromagnetic induction coils mounted onto the furnace. However, neither of these methods has proved to be entirely reliable.
The LAND thermal imaging Slag Detection System SDS has been developed using LAND’s expert knowledge of the application and over 60 years of experience in the steel industry to monitor and aid control of slag carry-over from one process to another.

The forces which arise in industrial processes such a press-fit, punching or crimping often have implications for the quality of the final connection. Such forces can also be measured indirectly in terms of the strain occurring at the surface of the machine structure. This is often simpler than taking a direct force measurement, which requires the sensor to be built into the structure.
Kistler's new Type 9234A… strain transmitter with integral amplifier is fitted to the machine very simply by means of a single M6 screw. Thanks to its high sensitivity, accurate measurements are possible even with extremely rigid machine structures.
The robust transmitter is particularly suitable for use with presses and assembly line robots.
