Fives FCB owns a remarkable tool for mill sizing, in the form of a grindability test so-called "FCB-Index" simulating for the best the grinding in a tube mill. Indeed, Fives FCB has developed and improved for many years a precise basic grindability batch test needing less than 50 kg of material and which makes it possible to define:
The specific energy necessary to grind a given material when using an optimised closed circuit grinding plant with a modern separator
The characteristics of the finished product which will be obtained in the a.m. industrial optimised circuit
The corrective solutions allowing to reach the optimum performances from an existing industrial grinding plant.
Using this tool, Fives FCB is capable to size a new grinding installation or to define the modifications of an existing one, with the determination of their expected performances (ref. "Modelling of grinding plants and grindability of materials in cement plants" - G. Flament, V Saint-Etienne, A. Cordonnier, P. Tête - World Cement 1991, Vol 22, n° 8, pp 14-26).

In combination with a milling system APS the laboratory dissolver DISPERMAT® changes into a closed, discontinuously operating bead mill. The system is simply adapted to the corresponding dissolver via the dissolver shaft or the adapter flange. The DISPERMAT® can be used as a dissolver as well as a bead mill.

The type of sample preparation depends on the requirements in the analysis to be made. For this reason it is important to select the correct preparation for the analysis in question. Perten Instruments can offer two types of Laboratory Mills, the hammer type mill and the disc type mill.
Disc mills are used when grinding samples for moisture determination, whereas hammer mills are used for most other applications, such as Falling Number, Glutomatic and NIR analysis for example

The material to be milled is placed between the feed and center rolls. Each adjacent roll rotates at progressively higher speeds. For example; the feed roll may rotate at 30 rpm, the center roll at 90 rpm and the apron roll at 270 rpm. Material is transferred from the center roll to the apron roll by adhesion. The dispersion is achieved by the shear forces generated between the adjacent rolls. The milled material is removed from the apron roll by a knife that runs against the roll.

Flowing Explanation
Raw material is fed into grinding room from feeding hopper. The First Grinding is a shearing force caused from the cutter impact in the inner of Rotor and Stator, and so on and so forth, the micro powder will be formed. After filtrating, the powder that smaller than screed mesh will be the products. The bigger powder will be ground in the Third Grinding until the powder can pass through the screen mesh. Finally, all the products will be discharged from the rotary valve.

As a reaction to the increasing, worldwide requirements of the good manufacturing practice (GMP), NARA improves its pharmaceutical mill, SCM (Super Clean Mill) continually. It is based on the principle of a conventional pin mill (impact type pulverizer), which suits the requirements of GMP in the pharmaceutical and the foodstuffs industry.
The next generation mill, NARAs New SCM, is characterised by disk-structured components, which are positioned on bars. By the release of handwheels only, the complete assembly can be dismantled easily and by one person.
