COMUS INTERNATIONAL (formerly known as CP CLARE INTERNATIONAL) is the only remaining manufacturer of MERCURY REED SWITCHES in the entire world. We can offer a complete range of mercury wetted reed switches : make contacts as well as change-over contacts, from 50VA up to 250 VA. High switching capability, very stable contact resistance and an extremely long life expectancy are the strenght of these switches.
These reed switches may still be used, not only for maintenance purposes, but also in some application area's indicated by the European ROHS Directive; monitoring and control instrumentation and medical equipment systems.
Application markets where these switches are highly used are ATE (automatic industrial test equipment) and other test equipment, instrumentation and control equipment, power control, traffic regulation systems, etc...

The Bestact reed element is a highly reliable, broad control range reed switch that when used and implemented in various application products provides a user or manufacturing operation the utmost in uptime and throughput. Its broad control range allows a user to select one switch for any control load from TTL logic to fractional DC horsepower, thereby decreasing the various types of control devices needed for spare parts allocation while ensuring the same reliability levels.

Having our own reed switch manufacturing and beinga distributor of OKI dry reed switches, the COMUS GROUP is able to supply every market and every customer with a wide range of different reed switch types.
From very small reed switch types, as the 7 mm GC2107, the 10 mm ORD211, over the most common used 14 mm types to the heavy duty types, normally open form A or change-over form C contacts, higher pressure or vacuum high voltage switches, COMUS makes them all.
Customized reed switches are available upon request. Cutting, bending, soldering extension wires, bistable solutions are commonly asked modifications. |

Reed switching technology is used in all market segments including: test and metering equipment, medical electronics, Telecom, automotive, security, appliances, general purpose, etc. Its growth rate is stronger than ever, where the world output cannot stay abreast with demand.
As a technology, the Reed Switch is unique. Being hermetically sealed, it can exist or be used in almost any environment. Very simple in its structure, it crosses many technologies in its manufacture. Critical to its quality and reliability is its glass to metal hermetic seal, where the glass and metal used must have exact linear thermal coefficients of expansion. Otherwise, cracking and poor professional seals will result. Whether sputtered or plated, the process of applying the contact material, usually Rhodium or Ruthenium, must be carried out precisely in ultra clean environments similar to semiconductor technology. Like semiconductors, any foreign particles present in the manufacture will give rise to losses, quality and reliability problems.
Over the years, the Reed Switch has shrunk in size from approximately 50 mm (2 inches) to 6 mm (0.24 inches). These smaller sizes have opened up many more applications particularly in RF and fast time domain requirements. |

Bestact is a hermetically sealed contact in a glass tube that can be used in circuits up to 240VAC or 240VDC. This means it remains entirely unaffected by external factors such as gas, dust, water and oil, and maintains extremely high reliability and function over a long period of time. We call it "Bestact", our abbreviation for "Best Contact". |

Our control components deliver precise, excellent performance even under high power conditions (average power to 100 Watts and peak power to 1000 Watts). We pay careful attention to understanding and controlling the performance characteristics that contribute to excellence in overall system performance. And we offer a variety of packaging options -- surface mount, drop-in and microstrip -- in a process that combines the best of both GaAs FET and pin diode technologies.
