Honeywell speed sensors using Variable Reluctance sensing technology are simple, rugged devices that do not require an external voltage source for operation. The output signal of a VRS sensor is an ac voltage that varies in amplitude and wave frequency as the speed of the monitored device changes, and is usually expressed in peak to peak voltage (Vp-p). Honeywell offers VRS sensors for general purpose, high output, power output, high resolution, high temperature and hazardous location applications, as well as low-cost molded versions.
Best Used For:
Engine RPM (revolutions per minute) measurement on aircraft, automobiles, boats, buses, trucks and rail vehicles; motor RPM measurement on drills, grinders, lathes and automatic screw machines; process speed measurement on food, textile, paper, woodworking, printing, tobacco and pharmaceutical industry machinery; wheel-slip measurement on autos and locomotives; gear speed measurement.

Non-contact magnetic sensors that measure the distortion of magnetic fields and thus provide precise measurements of speed and direction. Output #1 is digital square wave and measures the speed of target wheel or gear. Output #2 is a DC level that when the target wheel rotates clockwise, the output signal # 2 produces logic High, and when the target wheel rotates counter clockwise, the output signal # 2 produces logic low. Output signal #1 will be 50% duty cycle with proper alignment of sensor and target gear.

Hall-Effect Zero Speed Sensor (HS)
Non-contact magnetic sensors that measure the distortion of magnetic field created by a ferrous target. Hall-Effect Zero speed sensors provide very precise measurements of movement even at zero speed which makes the Hall-Effect zero speed sensors ideal for speed measurements. Hall-effect zero speed sensors provide digital output with constant amplitude signal regardless of variation of the speed.

| SLS is an internal battery-powered optical speed sensor utilizing a visible 3R laser to produce a TTL pulse output. Operating range up to 65 feet (19.8m) with reflective tape and up to 3 feet (1m) off contrasting color targets, keyways, bolt heads or blades. The "smart" feature provides auto gain for best performance in any light. SLS also offers manual tuning for precise triggering of portable data collectors, analyzers and balancers. Comes complete with universal re-charger and tripod mounting bushing. |

| The ARCoptix Velocimeter is a unique non-contact speed sensor that allows to measure smallest variations in the dynamics of a mechanical systems as for example watch oscillator. The working principle is based on interferometric “self mixing” effect in laser diodes. Light emitted by a laser diode and reflected from a moving object will lead to a modulation within the emitting diode. Such modulations can be detected and used for real time speed measurements. This new principle has high performance and is cost-effective. |

Speed sensors are designed for installation in drives as an alternative to the conventional encoders. They are contactless and are equipped with a magnetic scanning system which, in conjunction with a toothed wheel as measuring scale permits the measurement of rotary motion. This solution is exceptionally space saving.
The speed sensors are designed for highly reliable speed and direction measurements starting from 0 Hz and - due their metallic housings - are suitable for even the harshest working conditions. In addition, they tolerate large air gaps between target wheel and sensor element. The sensor elements, the magnet and the integrated electronic system are incorporated in state-of-the-art micro system technology and are fully encapsulated. The design together with subsequent circuitry ensures an electrically and mechanically robust product.
Advantages:
* The miniaturized sensors are dew-point proof, do not wear and are insensitive to dirt, shock and vibration.
* The toothed wheels can be adapted to any machine geometry (interior and exterior diameter, impulse number).
* MiniCoders require no maintenance and thus have a low cost of ownership.
* This extremely flexible system offers you not only long term reliability but also solutions to gain a competitive edge. |

Variable-reluctance sensors are preferred for industrial and automotive environments, because they sustain mechanical vibration and higher temperature operation. In most applications, they sense a steel target that is part of a rotating assembly. Because the unprocessed signal amplitude is proportional to target speed, a sensor whose signal-processing circuitry is designed for high speed ceases to function at some lower rate of rotation.
Variable Reluctance sensors are often referred to a 'passive' magnetic sensor because it does not need to be powered. Variable Reluctance sensors are 'self generating'
The variable reluctance wheel speed sensor is basically a permanent magnet with wire wrapped around it. It is usually a simple circuit of only two wires where in most cases polarity is not important. The physics behind the operation include magnetic induction. |

We provide combined density and sound velocity sensors for the continuous online measurement of 3-component liquids. The sensors determine the velocity of sound and density of the liquids and send measurements to the mPDS 2000 V3 evaluation unit for automatic conversion into specific gravity, °Brix, % alcohol, % H2SO4, API gravity and many other concentration readings.
The sensors have a very short response time, allowing you to react immediately to the results and save money by preventing out-of-spec product.
Different materials are available. There are 3A models and intriniscally safe "I" models. All our sensors are designed for rough conditions in the process environment. There are no moving parts and the complete system is CIP compatible. |

| The MLX90609 Angular Rate Sensor is a full gyroscopic system. A single SMD package contains a high performance Silicon micro machined sensor with signal conditioning circuitry. It operates from 5V supply and is designed for demanding automotive applications. The MLX90609 delivers two output signals proportional to the angular rate parallel to the assembly surface. One of the output signals is in an analog voltage format (the output is 2.5V at zero angular rate and the full scale angular rate produces an output of 4.5V or 0.5V depending on direction of rotation) and the other one is in a digital SPI format. |

The collapse of magnetic field due to the interruption by a ferrous gear tooth provides an analog signal output (sine wave) that does not require an outside power source. Variable reluctance sensor or Mag-pickup is suitable for speed sensing with a range from 30 to 1000 inches per second with a target gear from one tooth per revolution to 32 pitch gear.
