The latest in-vivo Imaging system NightOWL II LB 983 from BERTHOLD TECHNOLOGIES is equipped with extreme sensitive CCD cameras (16-bit, cooled to -80°C).
A variety of options makes easy adaption to different applications possible. Whole animals and even plants can be imaged as well as blots, gels, microplates, cell culture dishes and arrays.
The sample format can be chosen between 3x3 cm up to 26x26 to get optimum results for every object. The evaluation software enables quantification of bioluminescence and fluorescence pictures, as well in infrared area. Special sample trays allow multimodal imaging, as well with MRI, PET and µPET instruments.

Based on the experiences with the NightOWLTM in vivo imager BERTHOLD TECHNOLOGIES has developed the new NightSHADE imaging system with plant research in mind.
For applications such as gene research, circadian rhythms, regulation of plant growth, stress tolerance and drug screening the NightSHADE will offer unique features for plant research.
Features
Top-view emCCD camera with high resolution
LED-based plant illumination with daylight simulation
Second camera for side-view imaging
x-y table and rotating table for 360° viewing
Temperature and humidity control
Camera
NightSHADE is equipped with a highly sensitive 1 Mpixel emCCD camera cooled to an absolute temperature of -20 °C. The electron multiplying (em) mode of the camera enhances the signals by amplifying the electrons during readout. This increases the sensitivity with short exposure times and enables single photon detection. The maximum quantum efficiency is reached between 550 and 750 nm making the camera an ideal choice for luciferases and fluorescent dyes.

Photonic Sciences’ range of microchannel plate imaging detectors are complete integrated assemblies comprising one or more microchannel electron multiplier plates and a phosphor screen on an optical window, along with the necessary electrical connections. 18mm, 25mm and 40mm devices are supplied as standard with intermediate and larger sizes available to order.
Devices incorporating a single microchannel plate offer substantial electron gain (up to 10 000). High gain devices featuring two channel plates (chevron configuration) or super high gain devices with three plates (Z configuration) are offered. Resolutions in excess of 30 lp/mm are typical with the single channel plate devices and somewhat less (depending upon size) for multiple plate devices.
