NSK supply needle roller bearings through a joint venture of over forty years between NSK Ltd. and The Torrington Company (NSK-TORRINGTON).
Needle roller bearings contain slender rollers with a length of 3 to 10 times their diameter. The ratio of the bearing outside diameter to the inscribed circle diameter is small and, as a result, they have a high radial load capacity.
NSK-TORRINGTON can supply a full range of needle roller bearings including drawn-cup radial bearings with a pressed steel outer ring or solid radial bearings with a machined outer ring. The range also includes cam followers, roller followers, needle bearings for airframes and thrust needle bearings.
To prevent the ingress of contamination, NSK-TORRINGTON needle roller bearings can also be supplied with contact seals, non-contact labyrinth seals or flingers.

Needle roller and cage assemblies are single or double row units comprising cages and needle rollers.
Since their radial section is no greater than the diameter of the needle rollers, needle roller and cage assemblies allow bearing arrangements with a very small radial design envelope to be achieved. They have very high load carrying capacity, are suitable for high speeds and can be easily fitted.
If the raceways are produced to high geometrical accuracy, bearing arrangements with high runout accuracy can be achieved.
The radial internal clearance can be influenced by the needle roller sort and by the shaft and housing tolerance.
Needle roller and cage assemblies require a hardened and ground raceway on the shaft and in the housing.

The backing bearings based on cylindrical roller bearings have two or three rows of rollers and are available as full complement bearings (without cage) or as caged bearings, with or without integral flanges or flange rings. The advantage of the bearings without flanges lies in their particularly simple geometrical form and their very high radial load carrying capacity.
Cylindrical roller backing bearings without flanges or flange rings cannot accommodate any axial load. It is therefore necessary to position thrust washers of bronze or plastic between the side faces of the outer ring and the support saddles.
Thrust washers are not required with backing bearings with flanges (or flange rings) as the design of these bearings enables them to accommodate simultaneously acting radial and axial forces.
On each backing shaft of a cluster mill, several bearings are installed side by side. With their outside diameter surface in direct contact with the intermediate rolls, these bearings rotate while carrying components of rolling force. Therefore, the outer rings of these bearings are required to have adequate rigidity and fatigue strength, and should be finished with high precision.

There are two kinds of spherical roller bearing, one has a cylindrical bore, the others has a tapered bore (K). Spherical bearings offer an unequalled combination of high load capacity, high tolerance to shock loads, and self-aligning ability but they are limited by speed. Spherical rollers are put between the spherical raceway on the outer ring and the two grooves on the inner ring of the bearing.
The symmetrical barrel rollers freely align themselves to the concave outer ring raceway. As a result, shaft deflections and misalignments of the bearing seats are compensated. Double row spherical roller bearings can accommodate high radial and simultaneously also axial loads in both directions. These bearings are massively widespread, particularly in applications where high load accommodation is required and their self-alignment advantage can be best utilized.
It is particularly suitable for metallurgy, mining, petroleum, cement....etc (Vibrators, shakers, conveyors, speed reducers, transmissions, and other heavy machinery)

NSK manufactures a complete range of spherical roller bearings from 25mm to 1.5m bore diameter with the option of parallel or tapered bores (for use with NSK adapter or withdrawal sleeves). Other sizes may also be available on request.
Spherical roller bearings can support high radial loads and moderate axial loads in either direction. They are also suitable for applications involving moderate shock or impact loads.
The inner ring guides two rows of barrel-shaped rollers, with a single spherical outer ring raceway. As such, these bearing can accommodate a varying degree of misalignment depending on their size, but normally between 0.018 and 0.045 radian (1 to 2.5 degrees) with average loads.
Different cage materials are available for these bearings including steel, brass or polyamide depending on the requirements of the application. These bearings are also available with an oil groove and holes in the outer ring for re-lubrication purposes.
In addition, NSK can provide a range of specially designed spherical roller bearings for vibrating machinery applications.

Single-row tapered Roller Bearings are the most widely used tapered roller bearings. They have a high radial capacity and a thrust capacity of about 60% of radial capacity.
The exact percentage depends on the contact angle of the tapered roller bearing. Variations within the type include tapered bores for frequent removal, pin cages and hollow rollers for higher capacity, and steep roller angles for higher thrust capacity.

NSK manufactures a wide range of metric and inch size tapered roller bearings. These bearings comprise of a loose outer ring cup and an inner ring cone assembly with rollers and retaining cage.
These bearings are capable of taking high radial loads and axial loads in one direction. In addition, the HR series incorporates rollers of increased size and number giving higher load capacity.
Tapered roller bearings are generally mounted in pairs with the proper internal clearance being obtained by adjustment of the axial distance between the cups or cones of the two bearings. As well as single row tapered roller bearings, 2 and 4 row versions are available from NSK to support axial loads in either direction.
NSK tapered roller bearings are normally supplied in through hardened high carbon chromium steel. Alternatively, NSK can supply these bearings case hardened or, for more arduous conditions, in a range of advanced patented materials including High-TF and Super-TF. Please contact NSK for more details.

Transmission bearings in race cars normally only attract attention when they fail. So apart from absolute reliability, they also have to provide minimum friction, low weight and, in some applications, as many integrated functions as possible. Custom-made designs to meet specific requirements offer an ideal combination of these properties.
CEROBEAR hybrid transmission bearings are available as several rolling bearing types with balls, rollers, needles or tapered rollers, made of silicon nitride. A design that is matched to the stress and the choice of suitable materials helps save weight compared to standard bearings. Customized flanges, anti-rotation devices, threads, splines or oil feeds allow an optimum connection to the surrounding structure.

The wheel bearings of modern, high-performance race cars are normally paired, axially-preloaded hybrid angular contact ball bearings with integrated seals. The main requirements are maximum stiffness for a reduced and uniform brake and tyre wear, low weight to reduce the unsprung masses, minimum friction and maximum reliability.
CEROBEAR hybrid wheel bearings offer optimum performance through an individual bearing design and ideal combination of materials. The best results are achieved by using silicon nitride and high-nitrogen steels as rolling contact partners, whereas modern, high-performance plastics are ideal materials for the cages and seals.
Designs with a high contact angle and tight raceway curvatures are nowadays dominating, since they achieve a very precise and extremely stiff brake disc and tyre guidance for the most demanding load case, which is fast cornering. At the same time, an increase in the axial bearing load capacity and widening of the virtual bearing distance allows a smaller bearing size to be used for maximum weight saving.
Many teams from the Formula 1, World Rally Car, Formula 3, LeMans 24h, ALMS, DTM and NASCAR have recognised these advantages and thus use CEROBEAR hybrid wheel bearings with great success.

Barrel roller bearings are single row, self-aligning roller bearings. They comprise solid outer rings with a concave raceway, solid inner rings with two ribs and a cylindrical or tapered bore and barrel rollers with cages. The bearings cannot be dismantled.
Barrel roller bearings are particularly suitable where high radial shock type loads occur and misalignments must be compensated, see Compensation of angular misalignments. Their axial load carrying capacity is small.

IKO Crossed Roller Bearings are compact bearings with their rollers alternately crossed at right angles to each other between inner and outer rings. They can take loads from any directions at the same time such as radial, thrust and moment loads. The rollers make line-contact with raceway surfaces, and , therefore, elastic deformation due to bearing loads is very small. These bearings are widely used in the rotating parts of industrial robots, machine tools, medical equipment, etc., which require compactness, high rigidity and high rotational accuracy. In addition, bearings made of stainless steel or those with inner and outer rings provided with mounting holes are also available on request. Please contactIKO.

Axial cylindrical roller bearings comprise axial cylindrical roller and cage assemblies and shaft and housing locating washers.
The bearings have particularly small axial section height, have high load carrying capacity and high rigidity and can support axial forces in one direction.
|
|
|
Full Complement Cylindrical Roller Bearings are designed to carry heavy load. Comparing with traditional bearings with cage, full complement cylindrical bearings have much higher loading capacity. The radial cross section of the type of bearings is very small. So it can be very sp0ace-saving. However the limiting speed of the bearings is relatively lower. All the multi-row cylindrical roller bearings are with a lubrication groove and one nipple on the outer ring.

Cylindrical roller bearings
Feature
Cylindrical rollers have linear contact with the raceway, and the bearings can carry heavier radial load. Applications are found in situations characterized by heavy load and shock load and also high rotation speed. The N type and NU type bearings can be movable along the shaft. They can adapt to the position changes between the shaft and housing caused by the thermal expansion or the mounting error and are most suitable for free end shafts. NJ and NF types can accept certain axial load in one direction, and NH and NUP types can accept certain axial load in two directions. Inner ring and outer ring can be separable, and be they are convenient to mount and dismount. FC, FCD and FCDP types can carry comparatively heavy radial load and are mainly applied for mill rolls.
Applications
These bearings are mostly found in middle-sized and large-sized motors, electricity generators, internal combustion engines, gas turbines, machine tool spindles, deceleration devices, unloading and lifting machines and other industrial machines.
