Neodymium Iron Boron (general composition Nd2Fe14B, often abbreviated to NdFeB) is the most recent commercial addition to the family of modern magnet. NdFeB magnet is the strongest permanent magnetic nowadays, and it has the merits of high remanence, high coercive force, high energy product and high price/performance ratio. Meanwhile, it could be easily processed into various shapes and specifications. Now, it is widely applied in the fields of aviation, automobile, electronics, communications equipment, meters and so on.

Alloys of the Lanthanide group of elements, Rare Earths are the most advanced commercialized permanent magnetic materials. Collectively known as Rare Earths are the Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) types and Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) types. Within each of these classes of Rare Earth magnets are a number of different grades which span a wide range of properties and application requirements.
Both NdFeB and SmCo are available in sintered as well as bonded forms. The bonded form of the material can be produced with close tolerances off tool, with little or no finishing required. The sintered form usually requires some finishing operations in order to hold close mechanical tolerances.
